Enslaved (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Enslaved is a progressive fl/viking metal band from Haugesund, Norway.
Although the band now records in English, their early songs were mostly recorded in Icelandic or Old Norse, with one track on their first full-length album being performed in ancient Norwegian.
The band were also reported to have appeared in an episode of the American cartoon program South Park but this later transpired to be a practical joke at the expense of the Norwegian press.

ENSLAVED are one of the historic fl metal bands - and certainly one of the very few of the "inner circle" to be continuing to this day.
The band seemed in great form, the sound was good (though the drums did sound a bit flat), and RUUN sounds every bit as good live, as it does on your stereo.
ENSLAVED seemed to be enjoying their London audience very much, calling us the best audience in Europe.

One of the more storied bands in metal, the band known simply as Death is recognized as one of the most influential bands in the field of death metal.
Enslaved is somewhat of a paradox-a listen to any of their earlier albums (such as personal favorite Frost) reveals all the classic trademarks of early fl metal-the vocal stylings, the insane blast beats, that distinctive fl metal guitar style-and yet Enslaved somehow makes it original and distinctive enough so that only Enslaved could perform it.

Heathen Harvest - Reviews: Enslaved - Ruun
Enslaved is a pivotal band in the current European death/fl metal scene with a long, legendary and varied past.
At the time of “Monumension” the band was a four piece with the addition of R. Kronheim on guitar and drummer Dirge Rep. Currently, Enslaved is a metal quintet featuring Bjørnson and Kjellson with full time keyboardist/vocalist Herbrand Larsen, lead guitarist Arve Isdal and Cato Bekkvold, the band’s newest drummer.
And while Enslaved is approaching a more accessible sound on “Ruun,” the album nonetheless still belongs to the world of metal and are a far cry from “pop.” To a certain extent, I see this newest album as a crystallization of ideas hinted at in “Mardraum,” but since abandoned during the bands experimental foray.
