Old Ones (Warhammer 40,000) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Old Ones are a mythical race in the table-top wargame Warhammer 40,000.
The Slann are rumoured to either be the degenerate descendants of the Old Ones, or a sub-species used by the Old Ones as a slave or servant race.
The Slann are another possible link between the races in Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy, as the Slann also exist as the leaders of the Lizardmen in Warhammer Fantasy.

In the table-top wargame Warhammer 40,000, the Eldar are a race of elf-like humanoids, the most ancient and advanced in the game's history, with the exception of the Necrons and their C'tan masters.
The history of the Eldar in Warhammer 40,000 mimics that of Tolkien's elves, to the point that they are a "dwindling race" in the game universe, as the elves were in Middle-earth's Third Age.
In fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000, the Dark Eldar are a Kindred of the Eldar, an ancient and advanced race of elf-like humanoids.

In the table-top wargame Warhammer 40,000, the Necrons are a mysterious race of skeletal warriors that have lain dormant in their stasis-tombs for millions of years.
Of course, the Enslavers posed no direct threat to the Necrons or the C'tan, but they were killing the C'tan's cattle in droves, and the star gods and their legions were forced into hiding to wait out this plague.
The Necrons are also possible opposites of the Warhammer Fantasy Tomb Kings army in that, among other things, the Necrons despise psychic powers while the Tomb Kings embrace it and are very skilled at it (psychic powers being the 40,000 counterpart to magic).

Slann (Warhammer 40,000) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It has been suggested that this article or section be merged into Old Ones (Warhammer 40,000).
In the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000, the Slann were a reptillian or amphibian species who were servants of the Old Ones though current background fiction states that they in fact are the Old Ones, not unlike the Lizardmen of Warhammer Fantasy.
It is unclear at this time whether these are the same Warhammer 40,000 species or not.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay was derived from 3rd Edition WFB and they were given an entry in the Bestiary for the 1st Edition and subsequent reprints.
The Zoat's exact links to the Tyranid Race are lost outside of the Warhammer 40,000 galaxy, but what has been gleaned from ancient encounters is that the Tyranids did not assimilate the Zoats as per the norm, but instead enslaved them to do their bidding.
As with the Warhammer 40,000 Zoats, both full production variants were two-part models utilising the same lower body as their sci-fi counterparts, with variant torsos.

Then a plague of Enslavers emerged which apart from destroying the Old Ones also depleted the red harvests further.

The K’nib believe that the Enslavers are in fact the remains of the Old Ones themselves, considerably devolved into mindless protozoa-like creatures, spreading across the Materium and Immaterium like bacteria.
Whatever the case may be, the Enslavers are creatures neither wholly of the Warp nor the Mortal universe, but a bit of both.
Such are the intolerable conditions and sheer magnitude of the Enslaver plague that the Eldar and the few remaining other races scattered across the galaxy have been driven into a primitive and desperate state and are continuing to regress further.

The 8-Pointed Star: The symbol of the Brotherhood also happens to be the primary symbol of Chaos or Chaos Undivided (for those unfamiliar with the Warhammer universe, Chaos represents the Chaos Gods and their associates.
Chaos Gods are formed in the "Warp", a paralell dimension to the Material Universe that houses souls, and within which Warp Entities, such as Daemons, Enslavers, etc. coagulate, from the resonations of powerful mortal emotions.
Now, not everyone knows of Warhammer, and the 8-Pointed star is probably derived from ancient religious symbols (and a series of novels that contained a version of Chaos remotely similair to that mentioned here).

The Zoats were a race separate from, but subservient to, the Tyranids in the early Warhammer 40,000 galaxy, and first appeared in Rogue Trader 202.
The Zoats were originally a mystic druid-like race in WHF, but were added to the then-fresh Tyranid race as a bolster to their limited choice of warriors, the original Tyranid army consisting of termagants (then known as hunter-slayers) and little else.
They were discontinued by Games Workshop in the second edition of Warhammer 40,000, and have disappeared completely from the mainstream.
