| | Tokyo trip (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-06) |
 | | I was getting pretty hot and desperate for some lunch (anywhere with air conditioning), but many restaurants displayed signs telling visitors to order only in Japanese: "Just visiting is not acceptable", one of them starkly warned. |
 | | I continued, visiting a smaller temple Entoku-in ji, and the beautiful Kodai-ji, before finally finding a noodle place that would accept gaijin, and gratefully slurping my tempura soba. |
 | | First place after lunch was Yasaka-jinja, where I stopped to hang an ema (votive tablet) and admire the temple buildings, before moving on to the grander but less intimate Gion-ji with its imposing front gate. |
