But aloud she said, "I am not your slave, Epaphroditos, and I would ask for the courtesy to not be treated like one." Not allowing him to answer, she turned on her heel and went to bathe the baby.
Either that or you are among the rudest women I have ever encountered!" Epaphroditos shouted, choosing not to touch her or stand near her, for in his eyes and that of their culture, she was deemed "unclean" and he couldn't nor would go near her for that reason...
Epaphroditos then looked down at his wife's unconscious form, disgusted look cast upon her.

Epaphroditos shook his head as he walked over, placing his hand on his brother's shoulder, as if to tell the younger brother that some task needed to be completed in the back.
If Epaphroditos was sensing some element of a victory, it was well hidden, as he held out his hand to take the money.
Epaphroditos seemed to look over the two men, Paramonos could see a sudden sense of suspicion on his older brother's features, though, well hidden to someone who didn't know his brother.

A threatening first-century letter to a homosexual man   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
The vulnerable position those who were malacus were in is refected in a first-century scrap of papyrus which had a crude drawing with an obscenity above and below it.
As has been noted that this text comes across almost in the form of an official edit and it would seem that Apion and Epimas were of a higher status.
However, the suggestion that Epaphroditos is a prostitute seems unlikely as the threat against him of bodily harm borders on flmail because they will continue to be thrash him if he does not submit to their demand.

Epaphroditos straightened his tunic and tried to make himself appear better groomed than a man who had, not once, but twice already gotten into a pair of fights just recently over matters relating to such a thing.
Watching as Epaphroditos carried on the way he had, the younger brother shook his head.
The elder brother was none the least bit amused by what was being said, though, the older of the two men seemed to slyly and privately keep such emotions well hidden, save to the younger brother who knew better than that and could read his brother quite well--perhaps better than the elder realized.

After discussing these two aspects, the economy at Berenike will be introduced, along with the position of ostraka in the customs process and the use of measures.
The fifth group, dealing with a Gaius Iulius Epaphroditos, is different in the formulas used and seem to contain memorandums rather than orders.
This text seems to serve as a reminder to put wine on the ship for Gaius, or something to that effect.

Pliny (IV, 64) reports that copper was first discovered in Euboia, and the same piece of information is provided by the grammarian Epaphroditos.
In quoting Epaphroditos, Stephanos of Byzantion states: “For the Euboians are famous iron smiths and coppersmiths”.
And he comments that the line proves that there must have been at some time a production of copper and iron in the island of Euboia, even though at his time there was no trace of mines except for a mine of asbestos at Karystos.

However, an analysis of its declamatory style gives certain insights as to its purpose and possibly origin.
The letter was written late in Paul's life, according to the postscript (ch.4 v.23) by Epaphroditos.
One has the impression of Paul walking about dictating while his hard-worked scribe struggles to keep up.
