Mohawk epenthetic vowels are special because under most circumstances, they do not receive an accent, nor are they counted as a syllable when assigning the accent to a word (more on this below).
The epenthetic vowel e is added between two consonants which are not permitted to appear side-by-side.
The accent is on the second-to-last stress-bearing vowel.

Non-initially, the neutral vowels are transparent to and unaffected by vowel harmony.
Vowel harmony is present in all Yokutsan languages and dialects.
For example, a stem must contain all high rounded vowels or all low rounded vowels, etc. This restriction is further complicated by (i) long high vowels being lowered and (ii) an epenthetic vowel [i] which does not harmonize with stem vowels.

In ɯ and paragogic vowel, epenthesis (Greek epi "on" + en "in" + thesis "putting") is the insertion of a consonant, a vowel, or a whole syllable into a word, usually to facilitate pronunciation.
In 1 Epenthetic vowels, the letter "t" is inserted in inverted interrogative phrases between a verb ending in a vowel and a pronoun beginning with a vowel, such as in "y a-t-il" (meaning "is there...?").

In linguistics, epenthesis generally breaks up a consonant cluster or vowel sequence that is not permitted by the phonotactics of a language.

Schwa is a very short neutral vowel sound, and like all vowels, its precise quality varies depending on the adjacent consonants.

Naturally, “foreign” vowels, non-existent in the Hungarian vowel paradigm, are substituted with such, present in the language.
Therefore, an epenthetic vowel is inserted, to break up the accumulation of two, three (and even four!) consonants.
By examining the nature of the chosen epenthetic vowel and giving the rules governing the choice we attempt to show the degree of vowel harmony involvement in the overall shaping of the loanwords in Hungarian.

It is unusual in that the conditions governing the insertion of epenthetic material are both syntactic and phonological, and both precede and follow the point of insertion.
It is puzzling in that, although the languages involved are creole languages for which the historical sources of many of their features are clear, there is no clear source for this insertion--either of the form of what is inserted or of the conditions governing the insertion.
Underlying nasalized vowels in both languages are alternately realized as phonetic nasalized vowel, nasalized vowel plus nasal consonant, or oral vowel plus nasal consonant (for Ndyuka, see Huttar and Huttar 1994:548).

Universally ranked constraints yield the result that front vowels are more marked than back and that round vowels are marked; languages may vary in how they rank the markedness of low and nonlow vowels.
If nonlow vowels are unmarked, the epenthetic vowel is the least marked possible given the vowel system of the language.
If neither ‘central' vowel is part of the system, the epenthetic vowel will generally be [i]: constraint conflict forces the choice of a more marked front vowel in order to avoid violations of markedness on the mid and round dimensions.

The fact that /e/ emerges as the epenthetic vowel, as well as the fact that epenthesis applies so as not to break up sC- clusters, is the result of a phonotactic schema that has its origins in a historical epenthesis process that is synchronically defunct.
Vowel faithfulness suggests that only vowels that exist in the underlying representation may appear in the surface structure, which means that epenthesis is prohibited.
The reasons why /e/ appeared as the epenthetic vowel when epenthesis was a productive process are obviously different from those I suggest for synchronic epenthesis.

An epenthetic vowel is allophonically mongolian grill inserted, and the form of the epenthetic vowel is predictable from the preceding vowel: the epenthetic vowel is just a centralized version of the vowel in the preceding syllable.
However, in the epenthetic vowel in a syllable after /u/ is a centralized /e/, and if there is an /i/ in the preceding syllable, then an epenthetic vowel's phonetic form is determined by the vowel in the syllable preceding the /i/, that is, two syllables before the epenthetic vowel.
Another factor affecting the form of the epenthetic vowel is the preceding consonant: if it is postalveolar or palatalized, then the epenthetic vowel is a centralized /i/, as in [aʧĭɮ].

[b-hebrew] Hebrew grammar, (was Zech 6:8)
Since shewa is sort of a half-way vowel between the two (and whatever other /a/ varients their may have been) it probably was spoken similarly to pathah.
This difference was probably, if shewa and /a/ were pronounced similarly, one of length, the length with ga'ya still differing from a full vowel (this differs from a hatep vowel on a non-guttural consonant, which when lengthened by ga'ya did receive a full vowel).
The more abstract phonological syllable (which Khan strongly argues is the determinant of vowel quantity) could thus be represented as /way-yiq-tol/ and /wyiq-tol/, which when realised in speech requires the epenthetic vowel.

 Epenthetic vowels in Tashlhiyt Berber
Although the existence of variation can be demonstrated, it is not the case that epenthetic vowels are always of a particular category for a given word.
Therefore, though the occurrence of epenthetic vowels is best explained by the presence of a phonologically empty nuclei in the syllabification of a word, their qualities are not given in the lexicon, contrary to my proposal in Coleman (1996, 1999).
In (30) a Tashlhiyt lexical vowel corresponds to a Tamazight lexical schwa; and in (31), a syllabic consonant (optionally preceded by an epenthetic vowel) in Tashlhiyt corresponds to a lexical schwa or another lexical vowel in Tamazight.

Mongolian words can contain only all front or all back vowels, and all suffixes and affixes must conform to the vowel of the syllable preceding them in the word.
In such cases, an epenthetic vowel is inserted between the consonants.

 Lombardi -- abstract
Vowel epenthesis is another situation where languages differ in what segments are chosen, but the variation and thus the challenge is greater.
Many claims have been made in the past about the relative commonness of various epenthetic vowels, but they have been based on extremely limited data.
These are marked vowels - mid and round - under any analysis, so the point to explain here seems to be how it can be that some languages choose marked vowels for epenthesis when the vast majority choose unmarked ones.

While vowel length is seldom the sole distinguishing feature between two WSAE phonemes, it plays a part in distinguishing the tense (long) and lax (short) vowels.
Mother-tongue speakers produce the vowel in a word such as 'bat' considerably shorter than in a word such as 'bad' and they very often rely on vowel length as much as voicing of the final consonant to distinguish such pairs.
Vowel and consonant epenthesis is not typical of acrolectal speakers.

It's possible that I got the impression that there is a vowel copying rule by comparing "aml" as pronounced in an "a"-inserting dialect with "llyfr" as pronounced in a "y"-inserting dialect.
The copied vowel then makes the word behave just like a historical two-syllable word; hence the first syllable of llyfyr has schwa and the second the clear-y sound, as though the word had been disyllabic llyfyr in the first place.
