	EPICA 01.05
		Epica is coordinated by the European Science Foundation (ESF), and funded by the participating countries and by the European Union.
		The Epica research team is using the unique climate record from ice cores to investigate the relationship between the chemistry of the atmosphere and climate changes, especially the effects of carbon dioxide, methane and other components of the atmosphere.
		Epica’s aim is to drill two ice cores to the base of the Antarctic ice sheet, one at Dome C, the other in Dronning Maud Land.

	AWI: EPICA
		The main objective of EPICA is to obtain a full documentation of the climatic and atmospheric record archived in Antarctic ice by drilling and analyzing two new ice cores and to compare these with their Greenland counterparts.
		A further important objective of EPICA is to investigate reactions of the global environment on climatic changes.

		EPICA deep drilling at Kohnen station, Dronning Maud Land, was terminated on 17 January 2006 at a logged drilling depth of 2774.15 m.
		On Tuesday 21 December 2004, a European team involved in EPICA reached the drilling depth of 3270.2 m, which is 5m above the bedrock at Dome C, on the central plateau of the east Antarctic ice sheet.

		Ad ogni modo gli Epica non sono solo Simone, anche gli altri membri del gruppo mostrano di avere personalità e convinzione, soprattutto il chitarrista Mark Jansen (sempre efficace anche nelle parti in growl) vero leader della band, il quale a fine concerto si impegna a tornare presto a suonare in Italia.
		Un brano abbastanza immediato, con un ottima resa vocale della Simons che penso abbia piacevolmente sorpreso i fan di Floor Jansen and co. Visibilio che continuerà fino all’exploit dovuto forse al brano più noto della band olandese Cry for the moon.
		Gli epica presenteranno anche due nuovi brani,provenienti da Consign to Oblivion: l’energica e stupenda The Last Crusade e la dolcissima e commovente ballad Quietus.

		I was experimenting with various power metal bands, found "Karma" acceptable, so when I found "Epica" in my nearby music store, I bought it, without reading any reviews beforehand.
		It is of course hard to rate music because musical taste differs from person to person and a 5 star rating might not necessarily mean something that goes well with you.
		However, I cannot give "Epica" any other rating - it is my favorite album, not only in the power metal genre, but overall, which is quite an achievement.
