I didnt get to see all of justice league, I did see when they or should I say superman was fighting lex and I only caught a couple seconds of the flash fight(awesome way to kill someone).
Well, Justice League Unlimited will more than likely be the final series in the animated "universe" that began with Batman: The Animated Series and continued with Superman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond, and Justice League (and the lesser important Static Shock and The Zeta Project) spanning almost 15 years of animation.
Epilogue was reserved as, well, an epilogue on the DC animated universe that has been created by Bruce Timm and some other folks.

Justice League also had two seasons, but each season was 26 episodes long.

"Epilogue" is not only Bruce Timm's final word on Batman Beyond but also feels like his swan song for Batman as a character.
Because Timm and company were really tying all their own continuity up (and wow, was it fantastic), there's not much to say as regards to the actual DC Comics.
The League's confrontation with the Royal Flush Gang borrows a little bit from a Mark Waid-scripted plot in which the League confronts the Queen of Stories, an evil being that transforms New York City into a fairy-tale kingdom.

Much of the imagery Ace manifests is based on Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland - much of the landscape and the Royal Flush Gang, particularly Queen, are taken from many of the illustrations and movie adaptations.
An allusion to the fact that the existence of the original Justice League's Royal Flush Gang (from Wild Cards (1)) seems to contradict the existence of a centuries-old Royal Flush Gang that was established in the Batman Beyond episode Dead Man's Hand.
Referencing Superman, who doesn't appear in this episode, but is still active in the future as was established in the Batman Beyond episode The Call (1).

I would have been fine with Hawkgirl staying out of the League but since she's back in and since she doesn't play much of a role later I guess the felt there was a need to focus on her with this ep.
Seriously, that episode was phenominal, and I could care less that none of the shitty JL characters showed up in it (except for one, but she kept her mouth shut for once).
Because lets face it, every one in the Justice League, and I do mean every last one of them, really fucking sucks compared to Batman, and even his future counter part.

The very last episode "Epilogue" was where things from Batman TAS, Batman Beyond, and Justice League all come crashing together.
I particularly enjoyed "Epilogue" since I was a big fan of Batman Beyond and I liked seeing both some resolution to the series AND the tying together of continuity.
I hope that somehow their is a JUSTICE LEAGUE BEYOND.

Then they had to work out a way to bring Hawk Girl back, after she was uncovered to be a spy last season - this also mounted some tension since GL had moved on but, in true TV fashion, there was still conflict.
They had a couple of time shift episodes where a few League members bump into the Batman from Batman Beyond, an older Static Shock (also a WB cartoon that had cameos from JL already), and the offspring of DL and HG...
It is not a very enocouraging thought, being the last episode of the season is epilogue.

And then I started thinking how Season 2 of Justice League started with Superman seeming to be willing to fight it out to the death with Darkseid.
Everyone is so afraid of what the League could do that they overlook what certain human power groups are doing and have been doing for years.
Superman sits in the central chair, in the episode where they're all upset with each other due to the telepathic nudges of Gorilla Grodd, they say the whole League was Superman's idea, and he tends to be the spokesman...

I thought the whole point of the new series was to expand the League with all these new superheroes, and yet the last two eps haven't even had the full core cast from Justice League.
The Justice League meets the Ultimen, a popular group of young heroes who are about to discover their own horrifying secret origins.
It's obvious that Justice League Unlimited is geared towards young teens (12 and up), and they manage to put a lot of more mature themes in there, without trying to dumb them down, or talking over their audience.
