Fragments of a Faith Forgotten: The Gnosis According to its Foes: ''Epiphanes''
Epiphanes was the son of Carpocrates and Alexandria, a lady of Cephallenia.
He died at the early age of seventeen, and was worshipped as a god with the most elaborate and lascivious rites by the Cephallenians, in the great temple of Samē, on the day of the new moon.
He ascribes this to Epiphanes, but it is scarcely possible to believe that a boy of seventeen or less could have composed an abstract dissertation on justice.

 The Doctrine of Carpocrates
The Devil (called Abolus, by Epiphanes, the son of Carpocrates,) was an entity acknowledged by Carpocrates, and proclaimed to be in league with the ruler of the World, his double agent carrying on the dark, cruel aspect of control, that which the Ruler and his Angels do not want to seem to be responsible for.
The veneration of Epiphanes as a god leads one to believe that though on the surface, Christianity had entered into the Platonic-Libertine vision of Carpocrates, the meetings in the Temple on the new-moon, the blood sacrifices and the pouring of libations are all part of the Roman Religion, which Christianity expressly forbade.
Epiphanes demonstrates that the Carpocratians were not entirely like later Gnostic schools, such as the Marcionites, Phibionites and the later Cathars, who despised worldly existence and therefore encouraged homosexuality as a sacred form of sexuality that did not add souls to the enslavement of mankind.

Is the reference in Daniel 8 to 2300 days a prophecy of Antiochus Epiphanes or Antichrist? - Rev. Bill Lee-Warner
The "near" prophecy of Daniel 8:9-12 (the first vision) was fulfilled in the historical figure of Antiochus Epiphanes (175 B.C. to 164 B.C.), "the small horn" (Daniel 8:9).
The "far" prophecy of Daniel 8:23-25 (the second vision) will be fulfilled when "the fourth beast", "the little horn" (Daniel 7:8) appears at the end of history or at "the time of the end".
In other words, the ethnic roots of the nations existing during the time of the first prophecy will continue to exist in some manner until "the time of the end" when the ultimate prophecy will be fulfilled in "the little horn" or "the fourth beast".

Antiochus Epiphanes began his reign in Syria in 175 B.C. A major aim of his reign was to Hellenize the lands over which he ruled, that is, to supplant local customs with Greek culture, including Greek religion and philosophy.
Many of the Jews were already in favor of this "modernization." Antiochus deposed the true High Priest, Onias, and replaced him with his brother Jason, a Hellenist.
