Season five combines an entirely thrilling set of characters including, Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul), Richie Ryan (Stan Kirsch), Methos (Peter Wingfield), Amanada (Elizabeth Gracen) and Joe Dawson (Jim Byrnes) and let's not forget our comic relief character who continually seems to be popping up from the past, Fitzcairn.

Season five begins with one such episode, entitled "Prophecy", which introduced the character of Cassandra (played by Tracy Scoggins), a five-hundred-year-old witch whom MacLeod briefly met as a child.

I wish my review could be more objective, but this Anchor Bay Entertainment DVD collection of “Highlander: The Series – Season Five” is now my favorite guilty pleasure, mostly because of Paul’s performance as an Immortal born in Scotland over 400 years ago and still fighting evil.
The episode I enjoyed the most is “Duende.” McCleod does a bit of flamenco dancing and engages in a swordfight with a real swordsman here.

Needcoffee.com DVD Review: Highlander: Season Five (1996-97)
The Watcher Chronicles are the same as before from previous season sets and are one of the most useful features I've ever seen on a TV DVD collection, allowing viewers to read synopses of episodes right on the screen and to keep up with the various Immortals, important mortals and so forth with ease.
The crown of the collection might have to be the collection of interviews, however, which allow the cast and crew (including some fascinating bits with the costumers) to revisit their characters and have their say about the show.
As an aside, this season's box looks a bit different visually than the previous seasons, a minor alteration that is sure to annoy some fans who have nothing better to do than rate how closely one season's release matches another.
