William J. Williams, Professor Emeritus in the School of Policy, Planning and Development at the University of Southern California, has written extensively on the subjects of General Semantics and Epistemics.
He has attempted to operationalize these processes by addressing the subjects of leadership, power, motivation, rationality, decision-making, personal affairs, cognitive psychology, creative behavior, psychiatry, family therapy, clinical social work, law, humanities and thinking.

 Y2K or Not Y2K
Epistemic modality is a linguistic mood that indicates how much certainty or evidence a speaker/writer has for his proposition (Chung and Timberlake 1985, Palmer 1986).
Epistemic modality not only reflects the absence or presence of certainty in propositions, but they are used to indicate the degree of certainty.
These two types of epistemics play a crucial role in the documents in that they not only reflect the companies’ stance regarding their Y2K readiness vis a vis activities within their control, but they also reflect the companies’ stance vis a vis evidence provided by their lawyers, outsourced computer services and affiliates.

I don't mean that as a moral law, I mean that as an epistemic impossibility: science and faith are non-overlapping sets.
As for as our epistemic autonomy or lack of it, I don't think it is implied, Biblically, that this is 100% either way: there is a balance.
Epistemic autonomy in the Bible is usually picked out in such statements as Psalm 14: the fool says in his heart there is no God.

Dissimilar simulation: the epistemics of simulation in the humanities (VKS)
We will investigate the relation between the introduction of simulation as a technological and epistemic innovation within the humanities and changing conceptions of scholarship within contemporary society.
By using a three-tiered approach we plan to combine material and discursive analysis, ethnographic research, and a wider literature and bibliographic study in order to both examine specific cases of visual simulation use in archaeology and to contextualize our insights in terms of the changing conditions of scholarship in the humanities as a whole.
By focusing on the epistemic role of simulations we will also contribute to further development in understanding the role of tools and instrumentation in the humanities from the point of view of STS, which so far has mainly concentrated on natural science fields.

Epistemic logic is the branch of philosophical thought that seeks to formalize the discourse about knowledge.

The Epistemics of Social Relations: Cognition and Identity-Bound Knowledge in Self-Other Relations
Scholars have long understood that linkages between the identities of actors, their perceptions of events and the design of their actions in interaction constitute one of the central mechanisms by which social patterns are produced.
Towards this end we describe how the distribution of rights and responsibilities regarding what participants can accountably know, how they know it, whether they have rights to describe it, and in what terms, are directly implicated in organized practices of speaking.
Finally, by examining how members police the boundaries of knowledge to which they can claim special rights by virtue of their identities we can begin to appreciate the ways in which the regulation of experience, information and sense making are implicated in the production and management of more abstract forms of social organization.

Further, a basis for a computational epistemics of vision, a new area for research proposed by this author, is presented in brief.

Giving valium to patient waiting for an abortion
Perhaps, these questions are real questions for young people, but they are not for me. (Although, in less trivial cases, the need for such "epistemics" might reappear.) These individualistic questions or issues perhaps can (and should) permit me to get along merely with my intuitions and therefore in this case (perhaps) one can eschew principles.
But in a community of democrats seeking freedom, equality, and solidarity naive balancing is impossible and woefully undesirable.
And we shouldn't strain at the term "epistemics;" all it means is how do we know what counts as a value and how do we prove what we value, and these questions and the form of dialogue they involve are ones that most high school (college?) graduate, if not others, can master.

What is "Epistemics?" Tradition has it that the term was invented by Christopher Longuet-Higgins.
It signifies the scientific study of knowledge, as opposed to the philosophical theory of knowledge, which is known as epistemology.
A more extended definition of epistemics is 'the construction of formal models of the processes - perceptual, intellectual, and linguistic - by which knowledge and understanding are achieved and communicated'.

The epistemic efficiency of the system is low because the system produces the right judgment only when the message “1” happens, coincidentally, to be true.
In that case, the epistemic efficiency of this system will be relatively high and forensic science will increase the epistemic efficiency of the criminal justice system.
In this case we will have evidence that the epistemic performance of the system depends on its institutional structure as well as the skill or integrity of the individuals in the system.
