The interesting aspect about fire is that it could be used as a metaphor in regards to the relationships of truths and epistomology.
In epistomology, paradigms can or can't be truths depending on the determination and outcome.
A truth that the builder of epistomology does not use, it becomes a cornerstone on the outskirts of the building - it is still a part of the foundations.

So while absolute truth might exist theoretically, following a particular epistomology (the understanding of how we learn/understand things), no one is able to know what it is. Thus, we might as well not worry about it at all.
Presuming that their epistomology is correct, their conclusion of an inability to ever perceive, with any sort of certainty, "absolute truth" is quite agreeable.
The modernist's epistomology, which is presumed also in postmodern thought, simply doesn't consider it.

epistomology which for me links culture and people to our perceived knowledge.
I belive firmly in representationalism, or otherwise known as proxy thinking; that all things are percieved by proxy, that we see things not as they are, but as they are seen through our tools such as our eyes and brain.
Being exposed to ontologies, where words have relationships, and these relationships are important and have meaning, made me see things in a new light.

Your reference to Popper and Plato does demostrate the connection between epistomology and politics that is all to often overlooked.
That is how concept formation works, see Rand's works on epistomology.
So while his theory can 'falsify' a idea, it can't create positive knowledge.
