 Newsletter Sept-October 1998
The Epsilon Geminids produce lesser activity than either the Orionids or the Taurids but are worth while observing this year.
They reach maximum around the same time the Orionids are at maximum and provide a good supplement to the activity of this stream.
Epsilon Geminids are a very fast meteor, be careful when observing as the radiant is fairly close to the Orionids.

C&MS: The Epsilon Aquilids   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-22)
The discovery of the Epsilon Aquilids should be credited to B. Kashcheyev and V. Lebedinets (Kharkov Polytechnical Institute, USSR), who detected 17 radio meteors from this stream during May 4-27, 1960.
This stream was again detected in 1969, during the second session of the Radio Meteor Project.
Despite Zdenek Sekanina giving the duration of the Epsilon Aquilids as May 19-21, it should be noted that the radar system at Havana, Illinois, had been shut down during May 10-18, so earlier members might have been missed.

 Three White Stars
Just to the northeast of Vega lies little Epsilon Lyrae, the "double-double" in Lyra, a marvelous example of a hierarchical double star, two pairs that go around each other.
The stars of the quartet are nearly identical and were almost certainly born together as the parent birthcloud split and then each split again.
Marvelous stars are this trio, all seeming the same, all very different, all with their own mysteries, as do all the other stars of the heavens.

Constellation Aquila   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-22)
Only three radar studies give hints to the existence of the June Aquilids.
It look like the meteors are falling from June 2nd to July 2nd, with an hourly rate between 13 and 35.
To see the meteor shower of the Epsilon Aquilids some additional optical help seems to be necessary.

 Constellation Aquila
Two meteor showers radiate from Aquila, but none of these can be observed visually.
The June Aquilids have only been studied by radar and it seems that the shower is active between June 2nd and July 2nd.
The Epsilon Aquilids shower is active in mid-May, but it can be observed only with optical aid.

 (meteorobs) NAMN Notes: May 1999
There you will find all kinds of information on showers detected by radio and photographic means, and learn just how valuable plotting can be!
Under the month of May, there are all kinds of neat, obscure showers - like the epsilon Aquilids, detected by radio, with a parent body in an Aten-class asteroid orbit - and no apparent visual observations in the last 150 years!
Although the Arietids are a daylight stream with a maximum on June 7th 21h UT, and the zeta Perseids a daylight stream with a maximum on June 9th 20h UT, there have been some isolated reports of visual sightings of these meteors - in the hours soon after sunset and soon before sunrise.
