I thought this film was highly enjoyable and the fighting scenes were minted.
The plot is a bit loose in places, but the film is superbly acted, and the fight sequences are something else.
Hilariously awful from start to finish and concocted from an amalgam of at least half a dozen better films, this has to be seen to be believed. The plot is so full of holes it should be the focus of an enquiry on an episode of Star Trek.

Early in the film, there is a lengthy scene in which Ben and Barbra don’t speak, but listen to the radio — a fairly fruitless activity adumbrating Romero’s concern in his later films with the banality of media culture (Blake, 2002: 157-61).
Indeed there is in the film a sense of documentary-like verisimilitude, especially in the grainy photographic images of the zombie cull at the end of the film, which recall contemporary photographs of the carnage in Vietnam.

Equilibrium is certainly the kind of movie that invites an ominous-toned narrator.
Also bringing a heavyweight status to the little film is the renown Emily Watson (Punch Drunk Love, Red Dragon) who with the short time that she spends on screen, clearly shows she's a real actress in a pretty silly film.

The film borrows constantly from sci-fi classics of the past, but quite impressively fails to either build on or live up to any of them.

A handful of academic disciplines are well suited to feature length films, and we regularly see movie adaptations of pivotal historical events and great works of literature, such as Elvis meets Nixon (1997) and Robinhood: Men in Tights (1993).
Films that deal with religious themes are more abundant than philosophical ones, but many of these are not very thought provoking and often present stock Biblical stories along conventional theological lines.
