Equinox is the fifth album by Styx, released in 1975 (see 1975 in music).
The album also marked the final appearance of original Styx guitarist John Curulewski who left abruptly following the release of the Equinox album.
The album's most famous song was "Suite Madame Blue" which was written about the upcoming Bicentennial of the US and the track would be a staple for all Styx tours with Dennis DeYoung.

The Daily Vault Album Reviews : Equinox
Equinox, however, is a stepping stone from the old days to the new, and hints of future Styx are found in the eight tracks here.
The album is short, a little over half an hour, but six of the eight songs are very good (three were hits and two should have been).
This album sowed the seeds for what was to come, and is interesting to hear as a snapshot of a band ready to hit the big time.

Throughout Equinox there are numerous hints of Genesis in tribute to one of the greatest Progressive Rock groups which ever came into existence.
In addition Equinox rounds off with a suitably monumental progressive track which reprises earlier tracks of the album in a sweeping summarisation of the highlights of the album.
This album wears its Prog heart very much on its sleeve, the music is evocative, almost ethereal in places but with some heavier moments too.

 WELCOME TO RAINBOW QUARTZ RECORDS
Supernatural Equinox, the third album by Detroit's Outrageous Cherry, won't be officially released until June 3, but the timing is perfect: The swirling production, wall of guitars and blissful harmonies create the ideal soundtrack for the summer.
With their last two albums, Outrageous Cherry drew comparisons to the Velvet Underground, likely due to the fact that their drummers have always been female and all have been discouraged from playing cymbals or hi-hats.
Their latest, Supernatural Equinox, arrives just as spring is furiously beating back winter, and its big ringing chords and tie-dyed choruses are just enough to scare away the gray and bring on the endless summer.

And, like the previous album, Supernatural Equinox is something of a mixed bag, with the dark, droning elements occasionally bringing something fresh to the band's venerable sound, but more often than not diluting the spot-on pop sensibilities that Matthew Smith and crew have demonstrated for nearly a decade.
However, most of them tend to outstay their welcome and pad the album to an unwieldily length, detracting from the album's better-written material in the process.
By no means a bad album, Supernatural Equinox nevertheless feels like a transitional one.
