Equity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Equity is the name given to the portion of the legal system, in countries following the English common law tradition, that resolves disputes between persons by resorting to principles of conscience, fairness and justness.
Equity comes into play typically when none of the parties to the dispute has done anything against the law, but their rights or claims are in conflict.
Equity, as a body of rules, varied from Chancellor to Chancellor, until the end of the 16th century.

Stockholder's equity is perhaps the most abstract concept to grasp in terms of the accounting equation when compared to its counterparts: assets and liabilities.
Stockholder's equity (which is figured each year for reporting purposes) is a calculation of retained earnings from the prior year + net income of the year at hand (revenues - expenses) - dividends paid during the year at hand.
Equity is the residual interest in the assets of the enterprise after deducting all its liabilities.

Ownership equity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In finance and accounting, ownership equity, commonly known simply as equity, but also as risk capital or liable capital, is the difference in value between the assets and the claims on them (liabilities), which accrues to the owner(s).
In a bankruptcy court, creditors have the first claim on assets, and ownership equity is the last or residual claim against assets, paid only after all other creditors are paid.
Equity can be a source of assets, either through contributed capital (the contribution of capital resources, i.e., assets from the owners) or retained earnings (when the business increases assets through earning activities).

Ask the lender about the length of the home equity loan, whether there is a minimum withdrawal requirement when you open your account, and whether there are minimum or maximum withdrawal requirements after your account is opened.
This is especially important if you are comparing a home equity credit line with a traditional installment (or second) mortgage, where the APR includes the total credit costs for the loan.
Once your home equity plan is opened, if you pay as agreed, the lender, in most cases, may not terminate your plan, accelerate payment of your outstanding balance, or change the terms of your account.

7.2.5: Note on Recall of Unvested Equity - Encyclopedia - Library - VC Experts
Often the most potent penalty imposed on a footloose employee is the recapture of nonvested equity, either options or cheap stock.
If the draftsman employed by the company has kept the main chance in view, he will recall that the object of an employment agreement is multifaceted: to stimulate the employee's current performance and to keep out of his head visions of sugar plums dangled by competing firms.
If valuable equity can be recaptured at a penalty price when the employee quits,[1] the term "golden handcuff" becomes apt.

Online TDM Encyclopedia - Equity Evaluation
Equity impacts can be difficult to evaluate, in part because the word “equity” has several meaning, each with different implications.
Transport equity is often evaluated in terms of a transportation system’s ability to provide Basic Access to people who are transportation disadvantaged.
In general, equity analysis should be based on per capita measurement units, rather than per vehicle or per vehicle-mile, which tends to give greater weight to higher income people who travel more, and gives far less consideration to people who are transportation disadvantaged.
