Equivalent average - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Equivalent Average (EqA) is a baseball metric invented by Clay Davenport[1], and intended to express the production of hitters in a context independent of park and league effects.
An EqA of.260 is defined as league average.
Therefore, a hitter in the PCL may have notably depressed raw statistics (a lower batting average, fewer home runs, etc.) if he were hitting in another league at the same level.

This "average" (arithmetic mean) income is higher than most people's incomes, because high income outliers skew the result higher (in contrast, the median income "resists" such skew).
However, this "average" says nothing about the number of people near the median income (nor does it say anything about the modal income that most people are near).
Average is derived from Romance avaria, a 'tax'; this is in turn connected with the Arabic or Turkish avaria or avania of the same meaning.

Truck factors (equivalent single axle loads per truck) should be at a level or perhaps increasing to reflect the increased cost-efficiency of the trucking industry.
The average annual load spectrum is obtained by calculating the average of the annual spectra, presented in figure 8.
The cumulative number of equivalent single axle loads using surrogate spectra was 2.06 million, while the corresponding number of equivalent single axle loads for site-specific spectra was 2.18 million.

Emissions of Greenhouse Gases in the United States   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
Although emissions of carbon dioxide and emissions of methane grew by 0.8 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively, those increases were partially balanced by reductions in emissions of nitrous oxide (-0.9 percent) and hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, and sulfur hexafluoride (-0.3 percent).
Generally, the level of total U.S. carbon dioxide equivalent emissions is 0.6 percent higher when the GWPs from the Third Assessment Report are used; however, the trends in growth of greenhouse gas emissions are similar for both sets of GWP values.
Average annual growth rates in carbon dioxide emissions by sector during the 1990-2003 period were 2.2 percent for the commercial sector, 1.9 percent for the residential sector, and 1.4 percent for the transportation sector.

Sabermetrics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For instance, batting average is considered to be a statistic of limited usefulness because it turns out to be a poor predictor of a team's ability to score runs.
Sabermetrics is concerned both with determining the value of a player in a season gone by, and with trying to predict the value of a player in the future based on his past performances.
For example, a player with a high batting average one year may have been very valuable to his team, but batting average is known to be a volatile stat and relying on it to remain high in future years is often not a good principle.

MovingAverages   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
Intuitively, an average is where a person adds together a number of values, and then divides the total by the number of items added.
While this is a simple way to calculate an average, there is one disadvantage: The change in value of a moving average is dependent only on the values for today (the latest value) and the n+1th value (the one being dropped from the calculation).
So it is quite possible to have a misleading change in the moving average because a value that occurred 51 days ago is being dropped from the calculation of the moving average.

Total player rating - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Total player rating is computed using linear weights, in which each event in a baseball game (for instance, a base on balls, a double or a stolen bases) is assigned a value in runs.
In the 1990s, some criticisms of TPR prompted other sabermetricians to develop new methods of measuring player value, such as equivalent average and value over replacement player.
Bill James cogently presented some of these criticisms in his book Win Shares, foremost among them being the observation that an average player has a TPR value of 0, whereas in fact an average player has substantial positive value.

If emissions exceed the semivolatile metal emission standard during the comprehensive performance test, it is not a violation because the averaging period for the semivolatile metal emission standard is one year and compliance is based on compliance with the semivolatile metal feedrate limit that has an averaging period not to exceed an annual rolling average.
Annual Average HCl-Equivalent Emission Rate means the HCl- equivalent emission rate (lb/hr) determined by equating the toxicity of chlorine to HCl using RfCs as the health risk metric for long-term exposure.
This emission rate limit is an annual average limit even though compliance is based on a 12-hour or (up to) an annual rolling average feedrate limit on total chlorine and chloride because the feedrate limit is also used for compliance assurance for the semivolatile metal emission standard (4) 1-hour average HCl-equivalent emission rate limit.
