Geodesy in Hungary and the Relation to IAG around the turn of 19th/20th Century-A
He was the first national representative of Hungary to the Internationale Erdmessung (from 1897) and convenor of the XVth General Assembly of the Internationale Erdmessung in Budapest in September 20-28, 1906.
And it was not until the XVth Congress of the Internationale Erdmessung held in Budapest in 1906 at which he spoke about his latest experiments that Eötvös claims received general recognition (Eötvös, 1908).
The "Internationale Erdmessung ("Association Géodésique Internationale" in French) held its XVth General Assembly in Budapest in 1906 between September 20 and 28.

Geodesy . International Organization for Standardization
Geodesy is primarily concerned with positioning and the gravity field and geometrical aspects of their temporal variations, although it can also include the study of the Earth s magnetic field.
Especially in the German language German speaking world, geodesy is divided in geomensuration "Erdmessung" or "höhere Geodäsie", which is concerned with measuring the earth on a global scale, and surveying "Ingenieurgeodäsie", which is concerned with measuring parts of the surface.
The shape of the earth is to a large extent the result of its rotation, which causes its equatorial bulge, and the competition of geologic processes such as the collision of plates and of Volcano vulcanism, resisted by the earth s gravity field.

The "Mitteleuropäische Gradmessung" from the beginning put gravity intensity measurements on its programme, and later, the "Internationale Erdmessung" undertook the organisation of measuring campaigns and the establishment of national fundamental gravity stations; regular reports were issued on the collected gravity values (approximately 2500 values by 1912).
Both the "Mitteleuropäische Gradmessung" and the "International Erdmessung" gave special importance to the determination of the geoid, particularly in relation to the investigation of the curvature anomalies (the field of deflections of the vertical) and of the best-fitting ellipsoid; and the geological-geophysical information in the form of the geoid was early recognized.
The following phase of the "Internationale Erdmessung" (1886-1916) was essentially determined by Friedrich Robert Helmert in his role as Director of both the Prussian Geodetic Institute and of the IAG Central Bureau.

The "Internationale Erdmessung" placed great value on the definition and establishment of the Earth-rotation parameters, and therewith the coordinate axes of the terrestrial reference system.
The problem of the combination of very onerous but inaccurate absolute gravity values with the more accurate gravity differences led to the adoption of a strategy of establishing a global gravity standard by connection with relative measurements to the most accurate possible absolute station.
This was begun by the "Internationale Erdmessung", with regular publications of results.

Today, classical celestial positioning methods are applied in geodesy for economic and high-precision gravity field determination using modern transportable instruments like digital zenith cameras (e.g., Hirt and Buerki 2002).
The aim of this paper is to introduce the digital zenith camera system TZK2-D (Transportable Zenith Camera 2-Digital) developed at the Institut für Erdmessung, University of Hanover as an efficient state-of-the-art instrument for the astronomical determination of geographic longitude and latitude with an accuracy of 0.2 seconds of arc.
Photographic zenith cameras, developed at Universities in Europe in the 1970's and 1980's (e.g., Wissel 1982), have been applied to the local and regional determination of the Earth's gravity field in many geodetical projects in countries all over Europe and America.
