	Bird watching Trip Report from Central Southern Turkey
		One on the 23rd in flight over the Eregli marshes; one in flight at the Goksu delta on the evening of the 26th; at least five on the 27th at the Goksu with three together in a single tree, and two at the roadside marsh south-east of Alanya later that day.
		Four on the 23rd around the Eregli marshes with one on the 26th at the Goksu. On the 27th, no specific count was made around the Goksu. At least two frequented the roadside marsh south-east of Alanya on the afternoon of the 27th.
		A single at Eregli on the 23rd, with two at The Goksu on the 26th. On the 27th, much greater numbers at the Goksu and no specific count was made.

	Black Sea Coast - Sile to Eregli
		We couldn't figure out what they were, as we assumed if it was a form of sea food they would be picked up, but they were still there when we left next morning for Eregli (another motor all the way through light NE winds), 20 miles along the coast.
		Eregli is a large port, with ships serving coal and steel industries, a naval station with a destroyer and a few supply ships alongside, a fishing camber alongside the well developed pedestrian and people friendly waterfront, and a wide bay divided by a fuel jetty, fringed by restaurants and the sailing club.
		It has transformed what was probably a bleak mining and industrial town into a delightful community with the industrial port area off to the southwest side of the harbour and this delightful promenade ringing two thirds of the downtown shoreline, over to the navy base on the northeast side.

		In 1988, during a long term survey in Eregli, we tracked down Sükrü Aydin, an old fishermen known locally as the “bear catcher” because of the many seals he had netted and sold on to fairs, travelling shows and zoos.
		From his reminiscences, we were even able to trace two monk seals that had ended up in Ankara Zoo in 1957 and 1961.
