With "Beat Avenue," Eric Andersen continues his genre-defying creative evolution, in which the only constants are his motifs of love, lust, and the loss of innocence, exotic travel and a yearning for home, the constant motion of trains, rivers and time itself.
Eric's closest encounter with a wide, non-folk audience came in 1972 with the release of his "Blue River" album on Columbia, his best-selling record to date, which was subsequently tagged as "the best example of the '70s singer-songwriter movement" by the Rolling Stone Record Guide.

Bio: Best remembered for a string of mid-'80s hits including the MTV staple "And We Danced," Philadelphia rockers the Hooters were led by singer/keyboardist Rob Hyman and singer/guitarist Eric Bazilian, whose longtime creative partnership also yielded hits for artists including Cyndi Lauper and Joan Osborne.
Hyman and Bazilian first teamed in the group Baby Grand, which also included future producer Rick Chertoff; after a pair of LPs for Arista, the band dissolved in 1978, with the Hooters forming soon after.

Rob & Eric co-wrote most of the songs on the album with Joan, and Eric single-handedly penned the Grammy-nominated hit single "One of Us." Stylistically, I'd call the album mostly '90s blues-rock.
Rob and Eric can be heard on Lauper's 1983 debut album She's So Unusual, and Rob co-wrote her hit song "Time After Time," which the Hooters frequently perform at their live shows.
Eric also helped them with the remake of "Eve of Destruction" (excellent version!).

INTERVIEW: Eric Bazilian of the Hooters -Bob Gajarsky
Eric Bazilian recently vaulted back into the music news when Joan Osborne's "One Of Us" made playlists across the country and revived interest in the band of which he is still a major force, the Hooters.
The experience did bring future better-known results: one of the tracks, "Never Enough" was slightly re-written as the title track for her post-Scandal solo debut, and the producer for that release was none other than Rick Chertoff.
Bazilian replies, "The writing is taking some time and it's been long enough that we really want it to be right.

Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Eric Bazilian (best known for penning Joan Osborne's seminal "One of Us") seems to clearly remember what it's like to be an alienated pre-adult.
The rest of this album falls along similar, non-threatening lines, never veering from the middle-of-the road path Bazilian paved for other artists from Billie Myers to Amanda Marshall and the Hooters.
With a graceful and uncomplicated approach, eschewing major labels and going the self-released route is apparently the biggest risk Eric Bazilian takes with this easy to like recording.

Osborne, Bazilian, Hyman and Chertoff were right in the middle of writing other songs for the album, like "Right Hand Man," "St. Teresa," and "Ladder" when Bazilian got the idea for this.
