Eric Lecarde - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After Eric Lecarde along with his good friend John Morris, Quincy's son, both witnessed this epic showdown, they decided to rid the world of evil just as Quincy had.
Sometime later, Eric's love interest, Gwendolyn, was transformed into a vampire by a resurrected countess named Elizabeth Bartley.
Eric is expected to appear at some point in the game.

Castlevania: Bloodlines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The character of Eric Lecarde may also possess an oblique reference to Alucard, a recurring character in the Castlevania franchise.
Some fans have speculated that Eric is the bastard child (or more accurately grand child or great grand child) of Alucard and Maria Renard, although this is the only evidence that they have any connection whatsoever.
Eric's hair color as been the source of controversy for a few fans of the series.

Eric pulled on his trenchcoat and opened the door of his closed cafe-cum-bookshop, heading resolutely in the direction of the school with his best friend at his side, similarly dressed.
Eric grimaced and nodded tom Artemis, who dropped to the ground and ran into the office, yelling something about the monster jumping through the classroom window and attacking a student.
He took a deep breath and faced the late evening light with a brisk walk down the stone ramp and hung a right to head to the gates of the school, when something caught his eye over in the yard where the bike rack was on side of the building.

It's up to you, as either the whip wielding master, John Morris or the lanceman, Eric Lecarde, to pursue the Countess and bring her down before Dracula is awakened.
You can also use Eric Lecarde, John Morris' childhood friend who comes along for the ride with his own intentions of vanquishing the Lord of Darkness.
This adds much to the game's replay value as both John and Eric each have their own unique ending, which is determined by the difficulty level you choose.

However, instead of just scaling the towers of Castlevania, they are going to have to traverse Europe, from the mysteriously re-emerged Atlantis next to Greece, the leaning tower of Pisa,a Parisian palace and the factories of Munich, all in all 6 stages of action, which start and end in the Dark one's castle domain.
It should be Quincy Harker, not John Morris, Quincy didn't have a kid!, if they had got this right they would have had an excellent link to the most famous vampire story of all, and even added to it, in that it would have meant Harker would have been a Belmont descendant.
Both have different talents, for instance Eric can use his spear to vault great heights, yet John can hook his whip on scenery and swing accross ledges on it.

Eric flashed a brief grin, gesturing at the gate with the ornate Alcarde Spear he held in a meaningful fashion.
Fittingly, while Eric did battle with the Countess who had cost him his beloved Gwendolyn, John took on the resurrected Count Dracula as would be in befitting his Belmont Clan lineage as well as in avenging the death of his father.
Both the Count and Countess were slain in short order, and both Eric and John would escape the crumbling of the Castle Prosperina and witness its fall from the outside.

Eric carries a rather interesting weapon, in the US translation it is horribly translated as the "Alcarde Spear", but in the Japanese translation, it is entitled simply as "The Alucard Spear".
Possibly, for Eric has blonde hair, the same as Maria's, and his name bears a slight resemblence to the names "Alucard" and the Japanese version of "Rennard", being "Lennard".
Anyway, the story is John and Eric go to the ruins of Castlevania and find that it was all a trap just to give Elizabeth more time to resurrect her uncle.

Castlevania Bloodlines - Digital Press Online
From the start, players choose from either John Morris and the classic whip, or the spear wielding Eric Lecarde, arguably the better of the two.
Eric can use his spear in multiple directions and has a pole-vault like leap enabling him to reach higher ledges.
There are those gamers out there though that will feel obligated to use John however, simply for the whip as it is a preferred choice in the vast majority of Castlevania games.

There are also some specific moves available to Bloodline's two playable characters including Morris's ability to swing from the ceiling using his weapon the vampire killer whip and Eric Lecarde's ability to crouch, charge and do a invincible jump with his spear.
Bloodlines fails to develop a solid story, and if it were not for the fact that it is technically part of the Castlevania storyline, I would have given it a four.
Morris has motivation to kill Dracula because he is a Belmont, but Lecarde was never given any sort of direction on why he is killing Dracula other than him being a vampire hunter.

Depending on which one you choose will determine what path you take during the game, which will only mean slight differences in stage runs in certain areas.
