Since Eric Meyer is regarded as THE CSS guru his book was the first I went for.
All of the other reviews on this page are spot on - Eric Meyer has a fantastic knowledge of what you can do with CSS (see meyerweb.com for up to date stuff) and as a pure reference guide of examples and case studies, there probably isn't a better tome on the market as of 2004.
Eric Meyer clearly knows his CSS and this book covers a wide range of extremely useful subjects; including converting your existing pages, designing pages for different media types and some advanced topics which should mean that this book can help people from the knowlegde ranges from beginner to intermediate.

The only disapointment is the first chapter: when I bougth those two books (this one and Eric Meyer on CSS), I did it for one thing: being able to convert a table based design into a CSS one, without tables.
This is an excellent follow-up to "Eric Meyer on CSS." Meyer starts us in the same place as the original - turning an old-style table-based layout with font tags galore and showing how to trim the page size down using CSS for layout and formatting.
Meyer again mentions that if you have read his previous books and don't like his writing tone, pass on this book.

After all that I've read about Eric Meyer, I must admit I was left wanting after reading this book.
Eric Meyer has a simple way of presenting the lessons.
Since Eric is a bit of a CSS purist, he doesnt really cover hacks and work arounds for the various browser incompatibilities, and the screenshots are all on Netscape on Mac.

My favorite, for now at least, is Eric Meyer's clear and approachable project-based book.
In the interest of full disclosure, I'll tell you that I know Eric and think he's a great guy, so I may be biased.
The beauty of Eric's approach is that you learn the terminology as you go, in the form of short sidebars like "What is a Declaration?" and "What's a Rule?" It's like taking nasty-tasting medicine with a spoonful of sugar.

The problem with CSS books is that they always take two tracks: They're either a rote reference of the specification, or they're random "projects" that the author either thinks are interesting or, more likely, just happened to complete himself at work, so he feels qualified to write about it.
Eric Meyer on CSS is the latter, and it suffers greatly for it, especially if you don't just happen to need exactly the kind of site he likes to create.
Eric Meyer has shown once again that he can provide exactly what the industry needs at the time that it is needed.
