 | | La Plaza hosted many performances for the neighborhood, including Tito Puente's and his band, plays performed by several local theatrical groups, and was the site of Palm Sunday Processions, weddings, memorials, barbecues and other local neighborhood events, such as the Rites of Spring. |
 | | A group called the La Plaza Defense League was formed by Don Yorty, Mary Owens, Dave Bober, Virginia Tillyard, Patsy Margolin, and many other 9 B/C residents, who wished La Plaza to remain a park for the people of the neighborhood. |
 | | It has pursued the renovation of La Plaza and the garden by seeking funding to and sponsors to help fund the improvements, including new fencing, plantings, paintings and sculptures by local artists, new playground areas, and an improved performance space. |
