, Lindgren conducts various instrumentalists through a series of sonic soundscapes that generally breath life and serenity while providing aural vistas that aid one’s imagination throughout the gist of the overall experience.
Lindgren’s music closely parallels modern contemporary classical stylizations featuring strings, piano, percussion, flute, oboe and other predominately wooden instruments.
In general, the music is often heavenly, blissful and well-orchestrated which should come as no surprise considering Lindgren’s impressive resume, namely his lengthy stint with the cutting edge band, “Birdsongs Of The Mesozoic”, scores for PBS television, residences at well-known universities while occasionally delving into electronic music.

According to Lindgren, the group's fabulous name came from Roger Miller, who was watching an LP called Birdsongs of America spin on a turntable, and he bizarrely misread the title as Birdsongs of the Mesozoic.
Erik makes clear that his compositions are classically based, and the fact that Miller, a post-punk kid during his Burma days, was looking for musicians who could read shows how much Birdsongs avowed any prejudices and musical preconceptions.
Lindgren tentatively tiptoes through a maze of sax and synthesizers that melt like lava eruptions ("Ptinct"), and in a piece donned by Miller, the aptly titled "Swamp," newcomer guitarist Michael Bierylo does the work of a snake charmer.

Erik Lindgren | Erik Lindgren Scores!
Lindgren is a thoroughly modern composer that utilizes modern concepts such as chromaticism, distantly related keys, and twelve-tone rowism to achieve a high level of dissonance.
However this dissonance is always counter-balanced by the way he arranges the various instruments of the ensemble; using economy and subtlety to create a feeling of space.
Another facet of Lindgren's music is that he offers an alternative perspective on the classical art form, as his lineage no doubt consists of the Beatles as well as Bartok.

Erik Lindgren is perhaps best known in rock circles for bringing together Roger Miller and Clint Conley, and while that's good enough for admission to the cool part of heaven, he's no slouch in his own work.
His biggest feat (well, outside mid-wiving Mission of Burma) is being a founding and continuing member of Birdsongs of the Mesozoic, a soaring chamber rock quartet who, if you haven't ever experienced, are highly recommended - both live and recorded (Roger Miller played in the first incarnation but then you already knew that).
Lindgren mixes synth with orchestral instruments and a new-wave rock vocal that suggests a less sedate Mark Mothersbaugh.

Launched in 1980 as a one-off experimental keyboard collaboration between two former Boston bandmates — Mission of Burma guitarist Roger Miller and producer/synthesist Erik Lindgren — the all-instrumental Birdsongs of the Mesozoic expanded to a real band with the addition of keyboardist Rick Scott and another Burmite, tape manipulator-turned-guitarist Martin Swope.
With Lindgren on synth, Miller on piano, Scott on Farfisa and Swope on guitar, the quietly anxious piece lacks some of the group's offbeat studio invention but maintains the usual standards of taste and musicianship.
Showing moderate wit and maximum reverent enthusiasm — these are mid-tech garage renditions rather than smugly modern reinterpretations — he confronts such classics as "I Wanna Be Your Dog," "Iron Man" and "In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida," armed with sophisticated keyboard instruments and occasional assistance by his bandmates.
