Historical Documents and Speeches - The Voyages to Vinland c. 1000
The Saga of Erik the Red tells the Vinland story as a single expedition led by Thorfinn Karsefni, a rich trader from Iceland who married Gudrid, Leif Eriksson's widowed sister-in-law, and traveled with her to Vinland, where they lived for several years.
In The Saga of Erik the Red, two settlements are mentioned, one in the northern part of Vinland called Straumfjord, and one in a more southerly location called Hp.
Just as Erik the Red was able to recruit Icelanders to follow him to the 'green' land, Leif's naming of Markland and Vinland "for what they had to offer" would have encouraged others to explore and settle these new lands.

Erik the Red - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Erik the Red (950–1003; Old Norse: Eiríkr rauði; Norwegian; Eirik Raude; sometimes Eric the Red), so-called because of his red hair and beard (perhaps even because of his bad temper), was the founder of the first Nordic settlement in Greenland.
Erik did not take kindly to this and so slew Filth-Eyjolf and was eventually convicted of these murders and was forced into exile from Iceland.
Then on the timeline comes Erik who traveled around the southern tip of the island, soon to be called Cape Farewell, and eventually reached a part of the coast that for the most part was devoid of any ice and subsequently had conditions similar to those of Norway that promised growth and prosperity.

Erik the Red (II) did not appear until years later; Cyclops wondered what the connection was between this Erik and the identity he himself had used, but the answer was never given.
Erik the Red (II) was appointed the observer of planet Earth, its people, and its cultures, for the Shi'ar Empire.
