  Desmond Morton (historian) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Morton is a graduate of the Collège Militaire Royal de St-Jean, the Royal Military College of Canada,a Rhodes Scholar, the University of Oxford (where he received his PhD), and the London School of Economics.
Morton is the Hiram Mills professor of History at McGill University, as well as the past director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada, in Montreal, Quebec.
Prior to that, he was Principal of Erindale College, University of Toronto, from 1986 to 1994.

Residences for Erindale had been recommended because of the negative effect of the lack of residence space at Scarborough, which had not built its first residence until 1973, nine years after the first students arrived.

A proposal for a multi-faith prayer room at Erindale College was given the go-ahead at a Student Centre Management Board meeting last Tuesday.
Sommer Anne Dhun, the Chairperson of SAC at Erindale College, began lobbying on behalf of the Muslim Students Association at Erindale, after she found out that Muslim students were using busy areas on campus to pray because of the lack of space at her college.
"At this time Erindale is the only college that doesn't have a multi-faith prayer room," she commented.
