  Ernie Irvan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ernie Irvan (born January 13, 1959 in Salinas, California) is a former race driver in NASCAR.
Ernie continued his tenure with Morgan-McClure in 1993, adding poles at Dover, DE (June) and Daytona (July) and a victory at Talladega in May. In total, while driving for Morgan-McClure, Ernie obtained nine poles, seven wins and 51 Top-10 finishes in 105 starts.
Ernie was again airlifted from the track and was diagnosed with a mild head injury and a bruised lung as a result of the accident.

BROOKLYN, Mich. – Ernie Irvan, nearly killed five years ago in a crash at Michigan Speedway, apparently escaped serious injury today although he was knocked out when he again hit the wall.
Irvan was in fair condition at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, said track spokesman Tommy Cameron.
Irvan, who was airlifted to the hospital, had planned to compete in both the NAPA 200 Busch Series race Saturday and the Winston Cup event.

The injury is gone and Ernie was up to full swing in '98, although he is for sure not the same driver as he was before, but he is definitely still got what it takes.
