Schaaf compiled a record of 49-15-1 that included wins over Tommy Loughran, Max Baer, Jim Braddock and Tony Galento.
In August of 1932, Schaaf was decisioned by Baer in a rematch, but was actually saved by the bell when Baer knocked him out with seconds remaining in the fight.
