The Trek BBS: Should Different Actors Have Always Played ERNST BLOFELD?
While I love Ernst Stavro Blofeld of SPECTRE as the best all-time James Bond villain(sorry, Goldfinger...but you'll have to play your golden harp in the 2nd Place spot)seeing him played by several radically different actors with such contrasting and clashing personalities always took a little away from the overall Blofeld character over the years.
Yeah, the inconsistent casting of Blofeld really hurt a character who should have come off as Bond's ultimate nemesis, as he was portrayed in the books--somebody who was capable of personally challenging Bond both physically and intellectually.
Blofeld has done enough of a makeover on himself (including the earlobe bit) to defy what descriptions M.I.6 had on file...and Bond is counting on his Sir Hilary Bray disguise, which includes some doctored files backing him up in the role.
