THE J-ROCK SAGA! -- data :: grab bag :: eroguro nonsense and angura kei
From the term "eroguro nonsense", eroguro is basically short for "erotic and grotesque".
It seems that eroguro nonsense, as a genre, came to be with the inception of modernism in Japan.
I don't know who coined the term "eroguro" (some attribute the catchphrase to writer Yasunari Kawabata), but its origins are strongly tied to literature from the 1920's and 30's, although some traces of what could be described as eroguro are found much earlier in japanese culture.

However i am of the persuasion that eroguro and angura are and have always been a subsection of vk like oshare.
eroguro nonsense as a school of thought has its origins sometime in the late twenties.
As a person involved in theatre as well as the visual arts, I find eroguro the most interesting; and although like anything else there's going to be some bands where the image becomes to predominate, I think angura/eroguro as a concept still has some mileage left in it.

Eroguro (erotic-grotesque is a form of visual-kei that refers to shocking imagery).
I know bands like Cali Gari, Merry, and MUCC are Eroguro, but I sometimes have trouble telling it apart from other styles.
I'm interested to know what is Eroguro music because when I think of the term two things come to mind, hentai (that no one should look at) and Dir en Grey.

eroguro: This question slot, a long time ago, was "Who would you like to change brains with," or something similar to that.
Upon return I was a little shocked to find that instead of doing something to give people a "clean slate" or what have you for changing the question, they just edited the text of what already was there.
