 Western People: Historic industry given new lease of life in Erris
Erris is renowned for many things including its outstanding tradition in exquisite hand crafts like lace making, crochet, needlework and knitting.
It and other lace schools in the Erris area played a major role in the economic history of that community during times of great hardship in the early part of the 20th century and right up until its closure in 1999.
Vintage and contemporary examples of some of Erris’ finest handcrafted crochet, needlework and knitwear were on display together with old photographs of the the Erris Lace Schools over the last century.

Erris United Youth Football Club is very proud to announce that several of its players have been accepted into the elite Mayo Soccer Academy.
Eight Erris players were invited to the gruelling trials, sadly only six could attend but all six were accepted, given certificates and told to report back for future coaching sessions.
Erris United would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Arsenal and all their fans on winning the Premiership and to Our Lady's Secondary School, Belmullet on their historic win last Wednesday in the All-Ireland Soccer schools final.

The Erris area stretches from Ballycroy in the south through Bellacorick in the east, north to Ceathrú Thaidhg and west to include the Mullet peninsula.
