As for the looks issue (expressed by another poster) well that is up to you of course, I happen to like it and I never have gotten so many people chatting me up on one of my new cars before, telling me how cool it looks, etc. Young boys seem to like it the most.
As for the Avalanche performance-wise, I really like it, but I haven't given it the "up to the door sills in mud" test yet, minor mud work and uneven terrain have proven to be no problem.
He is just putting down the Avalanche and the 5.3 Vortec just because he got a lemon.
