Escape The Corporation - What Every Corporate Employee Needs to Know
It got to the piont where I was counseling more and more people to look outside the corporation for their work and satisfaction.
Now, I spend most of my time helping people plan their "escape from the corporation." I've never had so much fun.
My reason for writing this Course (which has actually taken me years to compile and write) is my frustration watching people work their lives away in jobs that suck the life out of them.

But, also there are the physical reasons, that depending upon the mass of the body leaving the gravity field of a planet, and the distance from the planet, and other features, the escape velocity measured also varies.
The reason for employing both systems of measurement shall be made clear at the end of this essay, but first we should analyze the particulars of the case.
Remember that we said that the escape velocity most commonly cited for Earth in terms of miles per second is that of 6.94444 mps (in reference to 25000 mph); and that of 11.1 kms/s (and, 11.2 kms/s) for the metric system.

The reason is that escape sequences are converted as the string is read by the parser.
This is different from Matlab, which apparently does not process the escapes at parse time, but allows individual functions (like fprintf) to recognize the \n specially.
It seems much less consistent to have only some functions process escape sequences instead of doing what C does, and having the parser recognize the escape sequences when creating character strings.

Escape from Reason (Francis A. Schaeffer) :: Reviewed by W. Simpson   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
In Escape from Reason, Schaeffer traces the development of modern man’s despair of finding any meaning and purpose in life, culminating in the irrational “leap of faith” promoted by religious and secular existentialists in an effort to escape the intolerable futility of an empty, deterministic universe.
Meaning and truth are now disconnected from reason and knowledge; if we are to attain them, we have no alternative but to make an irrational “leap of faith”.
This escape from reason was objectified in the secular and religious existentialism that followed.

Escape Velocity is a concept found in astrophysics, but here, it is adapted to the concept of Actuarial Escape Velocity.
One reason is that actuarial escape velocity could mean different things, depending on what you're trying to "escape" from.
This is the "cusp" of actuarial escape velocity, as Dr. de Grey described it.

 Reason
The 1981 cult classic Escape from New York was titled that way for a reason—one that no longer makes sense.
It's hard to know all the reasons for the different responses to the '77 and '03 flouts (one of the great parlor games in New York after the '77 flout was figuring out why people had acted so much worse than they did during the great '65 flout).
But one of the reasons has to be the far greater communications network that exist today.

We had a five year escape clause in our treaty and he found the thought of announcing his intent to fight me to be rather discouraging and so decided against it.
In the latter case, offering an escape clause along with that alliance type is sort of like the naked man who is trying to sell you his shirt.

Because of legislative changes to welfare and immigration laws, public assistance, the safety net used by millions of women to escape a violent partner, will no longer be available.
A new system of paternalistic laws enacted under the rubric of "family values" will endanger women by forcing them further underground, into the hands of their abusers, and away from the programs that could and should help them.
The reason is simple: men who control women by violence often control their finances.

The theory was that the hypergolic fuels of the Titan II could not mix and then explode, because they would ignite on contact, and this reduced the blast hazard to the point where ejection seats were a viable alternative.
Some fairly knowledgeable people argued that Apollo should not have an escape tower, because the tower itself is a dangerous piece of hardware, and Apollo's boosters were being developed correctly and should be safe.
This was supposedly was the reason for the escape towers on both Mercury and Apollo.

The Need to Read Francis Schaeffer   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
The result of man’s success in explaining some aspects of the universe through reason alone was that he began to try to explain every aspect of the universe through reason alone.
The only difference between the two disciplines was that the former appealed largely to reason and natural revelation, while the latter appealed mostly to reason and special revelation.
The reason that Paul did not use the Scriptures on these three occasions is that the people he was addressing did not recognize the claims that the Holy Scriptures made on their lives.

 A Critique of Francis Schaeffer
The real problem of Theology is not to prove that a God exists, as if she were instructing the ignorant or imparting a new truth to the mind, but to show the grounds upon which we are already in possession of the truth.
The reason they give, that we may talk effectively with non-Christians, is emptied of weight by their theory.
Thus men cannot escape the first truths of reason, these principles are a part of their nature.

Today this dualism is expressed in a despair of rationality and an escape into a nonrational world which alone offers hope.

In the first book, The God Who Is There, Schaeffer shows how modern thought has abandoned the idea of truth with tragic consequences in every area of culture -- from philosophy, to art, to music, to theology, and within culture as a whole.
Escape from Reason, the second book, explains especially how the disintegration of modern life and culture grows from corrupted roots that reach far into the past.
In the last book, He Is There and He Is Not Silent, Schaeffer contrasts the silence and despair of modern life with the Christian answer that God can indeed be known because He is there and He is not silent.
