  Conveyor escapement - Patent 6523671
An escapement is provided for use in conjunction with a conveyor having a frame which defines a plane on which articles are conveyed along a predetermined direction of movement.
In brief, the escapement of the present invention comprises a housing which is pivotally mounted to the conveyor frame and beneath the plane on which the articles are conveyed by the conveyor.
Thus, unlike the previously known escapements, upon retraction of the stop bar from its engage to its release position, the end of the stop bar engaging the conveyed article moves both downwardly and in the direction of movement of the articles on the conveyor line.

Lever escapement - Biocrawler   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
The lever escapement is the typical movement found in most mechanical wristwatches, pocket watches and many small mechanical non-pendulum clocks.
Most modern mechanical watches are jeweled lever watches, using manmade ruby or sapphire jewels for the high-wear areas of the watch.
On most watches, the fourth wheel is geared to rotate once per minute, and on most watches with "sub seconds" (seconds on a small subdial between the center and edge of the watch) rather than the more common center seconds, the second hand is attached directly to this wheel.

Bricks and Brass: Clock Escapement   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
A third type of escapement is the 'dead beat' escapement; this is much more rare and used mainly on regulators and other precision clocks.
Anchor escapements are typical from the late 17th century to the middle of the 19th.
In a bracket clock, the escapement was usually a verge in the 17th and 18th centuries, but some in the late 18th century used a short pendulum with an anchor escapement.

Escapement apparatus for an automatic screw feeding machine - Patent 4694974
Accordingly, new, different, and improved escapement apparatus is desired, which decreases the tendency for mass-produced fasteners to become misoriented and thereby jam while being removed from an appropriate track feeding arrangement and delivered to a port whereby fasteners may be pneumatically ducted to the driver head of an automatic screw feeding machine.
By receiving position, it is meant that the rotor 11 of the escapement apparatus 10 is positioned to receive a fastener 18 from the line of fasteners positioned within an appropriate track arrangement 19 which operationally abuts the inventive escapement apparatus 10.
Since the diameter of cutout 16 is approximately twice the diameter of the shank 17 of fasteners 18, the remote edge 21 of cutout 16 is spaced away from the edge 50 and inside surface 51 of track 52 by a distance approximately equivalent to twice the diameter of shank 17 of fasteners 18.

 Science Fair Projects - Chronometer
The motion of the balance wheel switches the escapement to drive, and the escapement then pushes on the wheel for a brief part of the wheel's cycle.
The escapement is the part of a clock most prone to wear, because it moves the fastest.
A chronometer's escapement is usually designed to minimize the energy and time required to unlock the escapement, so that it affects the resonant frequency of the oscillator as little as possible.

The MathWorks - MATLAB Digest - June 1999 - How to Build a Clock
We use the describing function of the escapement to find the angle for the escapement gear (interpreted as a a control gain that translates into a slope for the escapement gear) that causes the oscillation of the pendulum to fit within the clock case.
The escapement wheel (part 9) is linked to all of the gears in the clock (both the hands and the windings) through gears that are not shown in the figure.
The escapement wheel (part9), which is torqued by the winding mechanism, applies a force back through the anchor and then through the crutch and crutch pin (parts 3 and 4) to the pendulum.

Compass - Glossary   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
In watches the escapement consists of an escape wheel, commonly called the crown wheel and two pallets on an axle or arbor, known as the verge, to which the balance is attached.
The verge escapement was applied to watches from the time they were first made in the early part of the 16th century and continued in use until about 1850, long after the introduction of other escapements during the 18th century.
In clocks, the escapement is known from as early as the 15th century and was still in use for portable clocks as late as the mid 19th century.

 The Anchor Escapement - TimeZone
It is the development and refinement of this escapement which, in the nineteenth century, vaulted the Swiss into an indisputable position of dominance in the world of watchmaking.
Although it is well known that the escapement regulates the rate of the watch, the relatively simple principles by which it does so are not widely understood.
Perhaps as remarkable as the accuracy of the anchor escapement is its reliability and durability.

 Anchor Clock Escapement
The pallets of the anchor escapement are positioned much farther away from the axis of rotation, thereby requiring a much lower angle of rotation to obtain the same arc.
In the original recoil anchor escapement, the teeth may lean backward to avoid being at right angles to the pallet surfaces and reduce the risk of accidental damage to the tips of the teeth.
The anchor escapement is not self-starting since the energy that is transferred from the escape wheel to the pallets is only sufficient to overcome the effects of friction, but it is not sufficient to make the pendulum start oscillating.

 Anchor escapement - Definition, explanation
The anchor escapement is a type of escapement, the mechanism in a clock that regulates the swinging of a pendulum for accurate timekeeping.
The teeth on the escapement were also modified into a rounded shape, such that the motion of the anchor past the point where they caught the tooth would ride smoothly on the face of the gear, and no longer forced the system to rotate backward.
The anchor escapement system increased accuracy by about ten times over older systems, and from that point on almost every clock mechanism for the next 50 years was based on the anchor with additional modifications to further reduce drag or recoil.

 Steve's Corner - Escapement & Strike Line
Escapement is the distance between the top of the hammer tip and the bottom of the tine, with the key depressed.
If the escapement is too small, the hammer tip will not get out of the way of the tine's first down swing, and a "thunk" or dead sound will be what you hear.
To set or check the strike line, confirm that the escapement is good and that the hammer successfully strikes the high E note (improper strike line affects the low and middle ranges worst).

While the idea of the coaxial escapement was conceived in 1993, it took some years for the collection itself to be launched.
The escapement or the heart of the watches consists of an intermediary wheel, a double co-axial wheel.
In co-axial escapement, the clockwise escapement is done in a way that there is less friction and that goes to improve long-term accuracy of the watch.

Lubricant-free: the distinctive geometry of the Audemars Piguet escapement means it requires no lubrication – the dream of any watchmaking – thereby facilitating maintenance and avoiding the mechanism being clogged up with grease once the oil has evaporated.
High efficiency: in a movement with a Swiss lever escapement, the escapement absorbs 65% of the energy.
Improved chronometry: the isochronism of the balance and spring assembly may be adjusted by moving the locking point/angle in relation to the impulse transmitted to the balance: reducing mechanical disturbances on the level of the escapement further enhance the precision of the movement.
