	Esholt, near Bradford, West Yorkshire - former setting of Yorkshire TV's Emmerdale
		Esholt is a small village in the Aire Valley, just outside Bradford and near Shipley, Baildon and Guiseley in West Yorkshire's Bronte Country.
		Esholt is most famous for having been used for some of the exterior location filming of Yorkshire TV's popular soap opera "Emmerdale Farm" (now known simply as "Emmerdale") - even though the fictional village is actually set in the far more rural Yorkshire Dales region further to the north.
		Although the village is no longer used for filming (the crew having now moved to a purpose built set near Harrogate), Esholt is still popular with Emmerdale fans who are visiting West Yorkshire's Bronte Country and who want to see the pub formerly used as the Woolpack Inn, and other buildings associated with the series.

	Esholt Conservation Area
		Esholt is situated in the base of the Aire Valley on the north bank of the River Aire c.5 miles to the north of Bradford.
		The first known documentary evidence relating to occupation at Esholt dates to the 12th century when Simon Warde granted the whole estate of Esholt to the nuns of Syningthwaite Priory, this grant was confirmed by his son in 1172 and 1185.
		Esholt Old Hall (distinct from Esholt Hall), on the west side of Church Lane, is probably the earliest surviving building in the village and stands on a former moated (and possible manorial) site.

	Esholt Cricket Club
		In 1915 Esholt were readmitted to the Bradford League to take over the second team fixtures of Bowling Old Lane, who had replaced the Bradford club at short notice, as Park Avenue was no longer available.
		The club was able to field two first teams of equal strength known as Esholt A and Esholt B. The former won the League Championship in 1947, while the B team secured the Mathieson Cup, an exceptional achievement which indicates the strength in depth the club had available at that time.
		Esholt transferred in 1956 to the new and enlarged Dales Council, where the club remained for a further 29 years.
