Bob Larbey was born in south London in 1934 and made his writing debut for BBC radio, before contributing a film adaptation — Mrs Silly, starring Maggie Smith.
Esmonde and Larbey teamed up with Richard Briers again for BBC's 1977 comedy The Other One, a sitcom about a man who is a liar who attempts to hide his insecurities through charade.
Another hit for Esmonde and Larbey was 1986's Brush Strokes, featuring Karl Howman and Gary Waldhorn as a house decorator and his boss.

Most were actually in their early 20s when the show began (which is why they looked like the most developed fifth-formers you'd ever seen), and when they finally left school most went immediately into a sequel, The Fenn Street Gang.

It was an Old Boys team and they were all at school together - our referee was even mentioned by name by "Tom" and we all lived near Surbiton.
For the non-Brits amongst us (I guess there are a few!), Esmonde and Larbey wrote The Good Life, a brilliant sit-com based around a young suburban couple whose goal was to become completely self-sufficient, and their "posh" neighbours who felt keeping pigs and goats in the garden rather lowered the tone of the neighbourhood.
I believe there were only 2 series made in the 1970s, but they're still shown regularly on TV.
