  Scotland Yard - Uncyclopedia
Land was set aside for Scotland Yard after the inhabitants of Scotland correctly deemed that the best place to co-ordinate Law Enforcement was was far away from Scotland as possible.
The name "Scotland Yard" is derived from the unit of measurement and owing to the fact that a Scottish yard is approximately 496 miles long; thus it was perfect for placement in central London as this required the wholesale destruction of previously held Chav estates.
Scotland Yard is protected round the clock by a specialist division of butchers, who are known as Beefeaters.

Among the Scottish earls mentioned by the Sagas as reconquering the north of Scotland from Sigurd, is Hundi or Kenneth.
When the Saxon polity of sheriffdoms was introduced into Scotland, the government had not such a secure footing in the Highlands as to enable them to distribute it into numerous sheriffdoms, and thus to force obedience to the laws, by means of the sheriffs, everywhere established, as they did in the Lowlands.
By “the Lordis of that land,” to whom the forfeited estates were given, Winton means the foreign vassals placed there by Alexander, for Fordun is quite distinct that those who had offended the king too deeply to hope for pardon fled, and their properties were bestowed upon those who had followed the army into Argyll.

Parliament of Scotland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The parliament of Scotland, officially the Estates of Parliament, was the legislature of the independent Kingdom of Scotland.
The parliament, which is also referred to as the Estates of Scotland, the Three Estates (Scots: Thrie Estaitis), the Scots Parliament or the auld Scots Parliament (English: old), met until the Acts of Union merged the parliament of Scotland and the Parliament of England, creating the new Parliament of Great Britain in 1707.
Because the parliament of Scotland was unicameral, all members sat in the same chamber, as opposed to the separate English House of Lords and House of Commons.

The original Scottish Parliament (or Estates of Scotland) was abolished by the Act of Union 1707 to form a Parliament of Great Britain.
The eight regions are: Highlands and Islands; North East Scotland; Mid Scotland and Fife; West of Scotland; Glasgow; Central Scotland; South of Scotland; and Lothians.
With the death of Alexander III Scotland found itself without an adult monarch, and in this situation Parliament seems to have become more prominent as a means to give added legitimacy to the council of Guardians who ran the country.

So, it came to pass that while Scotland as a whole was being completely transformed economically and socially, the Highlands regressed.
