Esteban Antonio Loaiza [lo-EYE-za] (born December 31, 1971 in Tijuana, Mexico) is a Major League Baseball starting pitcher who plays for the Oakland Athletics.
Loaiza enjoyed a career-season in 2003, leading the American League pitchers in strikeouts (207), and was second in wins (21) and strikeouts per nine innings (8.23); third in ERA (2.90), and sixth in innings pitched (226.3).
Loaiza currently holds the Mexican Pitching Record with 21 wins in a season (2003), the most ever for a Mexican pitcher.

Ok, let me preface this by saying I was choked to watch Loaiza pitch the way he did in 2003 after watching him drag his ass to a 25-28 record with a +5.00 ERA in two and a half years in Toronto.
Loaiza's career path shows nothing to indicate that he'll be nearly as successful as he was last season.
Loaiza's biggest contribution to this year's fantasy draft is when he is autodrafted in the third round by someone who didn't show up or pre-draft, letting a legit third rounder drop to the fourth round for those of us who are present.
