Ester Akhnoukh Fanous, also known as Ester Wissa (born February 19, 1895, Assiut, Egypt) was the daughter of doctor Akhnoukh Fanous and Balsam Wissa.
Ester traveled to Cairo to meet with Safia Zaghloul who proposed the signature of three women on the message dedicated to President Wilson.
In March 1923, Ester Fanous established with other women the Egyptian Feminist Union to improve women's level in literature and social aspect and to promote them to be treated on equal footing with men in rights and obligations.

CURRENT STATUS OF THE CYTOSOLIC SULFOTRANSFERASES IN THE METABOLIC ACTIVATION OF PROMUTAGENS AND PROCARCINOGENS   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
The important roles of electrophilic sulfate ester metabolites in the metabolic activation, mutagenicity and ultimate carcinogenicity of many xenobiotics have been considerably elucidated.
Results obtained by many scientists during the last two decade correlate with a hypothesis that electrophilic sulfate esters may be the major ultimate carcinogenic forms of many, if not most, procarcinogens derived from benzylic/allylic alcohols and hydroxy arylamines.
Due to the excellent leaving group abilities of sulfate esters, highly reactive nitrenium ion species are produced, and these nitrenium ions are the reactive intermediates to form covalent bonds at nucleophilic sites on DNA.

 Unipolar Depression Heritability -- Neurotransmitter.net
RE-MDD is a strongly familial condition with a high rate of psychiatric comorbidity, whose malignant effects have a significant negative impact on the health and longevity of patients and their family members." [Abstract]
R and C subunit expression was assayed in the melancholic depressed and normal control groups by Western blots.
In a separate experiment, the degree of phosphorylation of the endogenous substrate cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) was estimated in samples from melancholic and non-melancholic patients and normal controls (n = 8 each) after incubation with isoproterenol or phorbol ester, which activate PKA and PKC respectively.

One of the main antiatherogenic functions of HDL is reverse cholesterol transport.
Three early steps of reverse cholesterol transport are (1) cellular cholesterol efflux, (2) plasma cholesterol esterification (EST), and (3) cholesteryl ester transfer (CET) to apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins.
Our previous study in healthy middle-aged men showed that moderate alcohol consumption increases cellular cholesterol efflux and EST.
