Topic: Estotilanda

Earl Henry Sinclair's fictitious trip to America, by Brian Smith
Marco (or someone else) inserted a note in his text that Antonio Zeno (24) 'wrote with his brother Nicolò the knight the voyages of the islands under the Arctic Pole, and of those discoveries of 1390, and that by order of Zichno, king of Frisland, he went to the continent of Estotilanda in North America.
Similarly, he demonstrates that Zeno's description of Estotilanda and Drogeo is drawn from sixteenth century printed accounts of Mexico, Cuba and South America.
Zeno's portrait of Estotilanda, for instance, closely resembles Benedette Bordone's account of Mexico of 1528, right down to a vivid description of a mountain from which four rivers rise.

Bloodstone Dale is a real place located inside the village of Durham, in Pictou County, in Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia was once known as Estotilanda by the Knights Templar.
Though some members may be, we simply maintain the traditions of knights. We do however recognise the efforts of the SCA in preserving so many aspects of ancient culture.

Not only did the Zeno Map chart the sea with uncanny precision, it also showed certain landmarks.
For example, it illustrated two cities in Estotilanda (Nova Scotia), possibly founded by Sinclair at Louisburg Harbor and St. Peter's.
There is speculation that Zeno based his map upon a much more ancient map, coming from the Templars in the Middle East and carried in secrecy by them for safekeeping in Rosslyn Castle until Price Henry commissioned its update by Zeno.

Henry Sinclair, 1st Earl of Orkney@Everything2.com
He employed Nicolò as a pilot to assist him in this endeavour, and after the successful conclusion of the invasion, they subsequently sailed off in search of the lands of Estotilanda and Drogeo in the far west, which they incidentally failed to reach and rather landed on an island called Engrouelanda.
It has since been suggested that Engrouelanda may well be supposed to have been Greenland and that Estotilanda and Drogeo were intended to refer to the North American continent, and it was therefore suggested that the Zeno Narrative contained an authentic account of a pre-Columbian voyage to the New World.
The Annals of the Voyages of the Brothers Nicolo and Antonio Zeno in the North Atlantic about the end of the fourteenth century, and the claim founded thereon to a Venetian discovery of America: a criticism and an indictment.

 Zenos Voyage?
They have been visiting previously unknown countries called Estotilanda and Drogeo in the far west.
In these lands they have had strange adventures: for instance, they had only avoided being eaten by cannibals by teaching the cannibals how to catch fish.
He was particularly informative about the section where the Frislanda fishermen go to Estotilanda and Drogeo.

Orkneyjar - Earl Henry Sinclair - The Legendary Atlantic Journey
Joined from Venice by his brother, Antonio, Nicolo Zeno is, before long, waging wars and exploring a mixture of fictitious and genuine "islands" in the North Atlantic.
Eventually, we learn how Zichmni comes to hear of a voyage to the unknown lands of "Estotilanda" and "Drogeo" in the far west.
Together with Antonio Zeno, Zichmni sets sail but as far as the Zeno narrative is concerned they never reach them.
