BBC NEWS | Wales | School music's 'uncertain future'
Estyn said pupils benefited from activities paid for by the assembly government's music development fund.
According to Estyn, the music development fund - set up in 1999 to reverse a decline in music in schools - helped more than 60,000 young people by financing a growth in musical activities including workshops and master classes.
Estyn's report, published on Monday, said the end of the funding programme may leave many local authorities unable to support music programmes at levels which have brought success.

 bryn estyn
Webster brushes over the issue of Alison Taylor's confidential letters being opened by "colleagues" and minimises the out-of-court settlement she received from the Gwynedd County Council for her dismissal with "it is reasonably clear, this was a pragmatic compromise [by GCC] rather than a principled reversal of their original position." Of course.
The backgrounds of the abused children now become key adult witnesses, are given the same forensic examination as Alison Taylor's (again, without a similarly harsh light being shone on the behaviour, for instance, of key individual members of the North Wales Police at the time and subsequently).
In an institution like Bryn Estyn, to maintain such an accusation against the collective disbelief of staff requires an exceptional determination and articulacy, seldom found in any children, much less the deprived and already abused children arriving on the doorsteps of children's homes.

However, the Tribunal heard evidence from a secretary who worked at Bryn Estyn in 1978-79 and recalled a staff meeting at which the Principal, Mr Arnold, told staff that there were “rumours circulating with regard to Howarth and some of the boys and they must be stopped straightaway.
It would appear that what had happened in the late 1970s is that some members of staff had begun to re-cycle such gossip and that Arnold had called a meeting in order to point out – in no uncertain terms – that circulating baseless gossip of this kind about a colleague was grossly irresponsible.
For Norris’s Bryn Estyn colleagues this was a disturbing development which they regarded as a shocking aberration and as a matter for shame (p.

The Wrexham First XV squad players who have elected not to travel to Cardiff are looking for a suitable early kick-off game, preferably at Bryn Estyn Road, to maintain their match fitness in preparation for the resumption of the Division Four North league programme in a fortnight's time.

The Secret of Bryn Estyn by Richard Webster: Introduction
Housed in a spacious mock-Tudor mansion on the edge of the town of Wrexham, Bryn Estyn had originally been an approved school and as such had maintained a strict, authoritarian regime.
Ever since the allegations were first made, however, a group of former Bryn Estyn care workers has maintained that the truth about Bryn Estyn is almost the exact opposite of the received view.
It is their contention that what took place in North Wales during the main police investigation of 1991-2 was not the revelation of abuse on an unprecedented scale, but the collection of an unprecedented number of false allegations.
