Fort Ethan Allen:  Who was Ethan Allen?
Ethan Allen is the historical leader of Vermont's Green Mountain Boys and has been enshrined in Vermont folklore as a hero.
Allen was captured by the British on September 25, 1775, and sent to England.
Ethan Allen is presumably Vermont's most well known military hero.

 An Ethan Allen Institute Commentary
If legislators voted contrary to the expressed wishes of the voters of their districts, they would have to go home and explain why their position was preferable to that of the majority of the voters in their district.
They are, of course, afraid of the terrors of democracy: that the people would vote down the statewide property tax rate increase that is almost certain to be necessary to keep Act 60 from collapsing.
And their representatives, constitutionally accountable to the people who elected them, must have the courage to hold accountable the bureaucrats, lawyers, and judges who are determined to impose their own ideas of how Vermonters shall live their lives.

 Ski Train to Vermont
The Ethan Allen is a comfortable train, with coach and business classes and a selection of regional foods and beverages in the cafe.
For most of the trip, the Ethan Allen follows the route of the Amtrak Adirondack, traveling along the east bank of the Hudson River.
This path was the route of such legendary trains as the Empire State Express and the 20th Century Limited, and though a traveler knows that just beyond the trees there are towns and man-made structures, it is difficult to reconcile that with the nineteenth century views seen by that same traveler.

While I have not ridden the Ethan Allen yet (but have ridden the Vermonter), I find your comments about the poor attitude of the train crews being the result of union "featherbedding" to be an outrage.
The person expressing this opinion is not the ultimate judge of human character, and even then, he really can't explain why people behave why they do.
