		Under the guise of Eto Demerzel, he becomes the first minister to galactic Emperor Cleon I.
		As Hummin, he convinces Seldon that Cleon's first minister Eto Demerzel is pursuing him and that it is imperative for Hari to escape and to try making psychohistory practical.
		Demerzel appears again briefly in the epilogue to Forward the Foundation, which says he was one of the few in attendance at Hari Seldon's funeral.

		The novel spans the period after Seldon learned who Eto Demerzel was.
		Seldon enjoys the protection of First Minister Demerzel and the benign attention of Emperor Cleon I. The first part deals with the rising threat of the demagogue Joranum (JoJo), whose populist slogans find ready audience with the apathetic Trantorians.
		His movement is busy mounting a challenge to Demerzel himself, who is unable to quash it violently on account of the Zeroeth Law.

	Books I've Read
		Seldon's theory attracts the attention of Cleon I as well as his First Minister, Eto Demerzel.
		The plot twist at the end with Eto Demerzel was also a nice touch.
		This book was well received by fans of the original Foundation series as well as the science-fiction community in general and it is easy to see why.

	Forward and Backward with the Foundation
		The revelation that Chetter Hummin is the same as Eto Demerzel is an effective plot point (I didn't anticipate it, though I was convinced Hummin was not a journalist), but it does leave the main plot as an oddity-- a virtual plot.
		Half the dangers turn out to be artificial: Demerzel was really just arranging a suitable Grand Tour for this promising young academic.
		Demerzel's fraud undermines it a bit, but only in retrospect.

		He gives a paper describing the (still theoretical) science of psychohistory and is surprised to find that the Emperor and his First Minister, Eto Demerzel, are interested.
		When a journalist meets Seldon and suggests that Imperial interest means personal danger, Seldon finds himself in a pell-mell flight across Trantor trying to hide from sight and figure out of psychohistory can be made a practical science.
