At the Venice Biennale, Ximenes exhibited his plaster maquette for the bronze statue of Giuseppe Zanardelli (1905) in the Corte d’Appello, Brescia, which represents the statesman wrapped in a toga over modern clothes.
Between 1913 and 1920 Ximenes planned a large monumental group to commemorate Giuseppe Verdi in Parma, of which all that remains is one bronze plate in the Piazza Marconi.
Ximenes also worked in the fields of painting and drawing, illustrating the story Il vino by Edmondo de Amicis, and Nei boschi incantati by Pìetro Petrocchi.

He studied sculpture in Palermo, but it was fundumental the contact with V.Gemito in Naples, where he was also the pupil of D.Morelli in Academy.

Begun in 1913, coinciding with the celebrations for the centenary of Verdi's birth, and inaugurated in 1920, the monument was built in the vast area formerly occupied by the Foro Boario (a live-stock market) between the Pilotta and the railway station.
The work of the architect Lamberto Cusani, with bronze reliefs and statues by the sculptor Ettore Ximenes, the imposing monumental complex constituted a semicircle 120 metres long, with a triumphal arch at the centre, and at the sides, between the arches, the statues that represented the operas of Verdi.
At the centre of the the architectural structure was placed an altar with bronze reliefs that represented scenes from the composer's life and free allegorical interpretations inspired by his art.

Author of "The Divine Comedy," Dante is considered one of the greatest writers of fictional literature in history.
His figure stands 11 1/2 feet tall, made of bronze by sculptor Ettore Ximenes of Rome.
The statue stands on a pedestal of sea green granite and represents Dante in the robe of a scholar, wearing a crown of laurel.

Ettore Ximenes (1855-1925) was a sculptor known for his monuments celebrating national heroes (Garibaldi in Milan, General Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Giovanni da Verrazzano in New York, czar Alexander II in Kiev).
With the money he earned he built a house which shows his predilection for the use of symbols to represent ideas (hopefully he did not fully rely on the viewer's smartness and he added a few sentences which provide some help).
