Currency Creek Arboretum Eucalypt Research Book
It is intended to be of use to researchers working with eucalypts, especially those using material from CCA; and also for the many other people interested in CCA and eucalypts in general.
The main part of the book is the listing of collections at CCA, which includes details of species/subspecies/variety, provenance/collection information, voucher number, year planted, year first flowered, current health and CCA location of all vouchered collections of the genera Angophora, Corymbia and Eucalyptus at CCA.
Volume 2 includes details of 911 recognised terminal eucalypt taxa from 1428 different collections.

Unasylva - Vol. 10, No. 3 - Eucalypt woodland in Australia
This article on the factors influencing the occurrence and treatment of eucalypt woodland in Australia deals with one of the important subjects to be considered at the eucalypt conference.
The position is being aggravated by the fact that some of the worst enemies of the eucalypts of the savanna are scarab beetles which feed on grass roots in the larval stage and on eucalypt foliage when mature.
Eucalypts from forests of very high quality may be of less interest overseas than the species from the savanna.

Eucalypt open woodlands and tropical savannas - Territory environments - Nature of the NT - Wildlife - NRETA - NT ...
A wide variety of eucalypt species may be the dominant species in tropical savannas, and the composition of the grassy layer is similarly variable.
Although the eucalypt woodlands may appear monotonous, an important part of their ecology is related to variability - both the patchy distribution of different vegetation communities and the marked variation through time.
The eucalypt woodlands and open-woodlands are relatively well-represented in Northern Territory conservation reserves, with large areas in parks such as Kakadu, Litchfield and Gregory.

 Eucalyptus: Environmental Issues
For example, in an arid region eucalypt may suppress ground vegetation by competing for water, but this is unlikely to occur in an area of high rainfall (Poore and Fries 1985).
Critics of short-rotation commercial eucalypt plantations assume that eucalypts have an allelopathic effect on the other plants, resulting in the disappearance of the original native plants and local ecosystems (Poore and Fires 1985).
Thus, it seems that many observed effects of fast-growing eucalypt plantations might be attributed primarily to competition for soil nutrients and water during the rapid growth phase rather than any direct toxic influences the eucalypt may have on soils and other plants (Florence 1986).

Eucalyptus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nearly all eucalypts are evergreen but some tropical species lose their leaves at the end of the dry season.
Eucalypts are well adapted for periodic fires, in fact most species are dependent on them for spread and regeneration, both from reserve buds under the bark, and from fire-germinated seeds sprouting in the ashes.
Eucalypts draw a tremendous amount of water from the soil through the process of transpiration.

In a few years the eucalypt test plots outgrew all the other tree species being tested, encouraging Andrade to import seeds of various species of this genus to be tested in São Paulo.
The eucalypts were introduced in Brazil to substitute for native forests in providing firewood for the railroad companies.
Aspects deserving attention are (1) the hydrologic and ecological processes; (2) the capacity of the soil to produce on a sustainable basis; (3) the biodiversity of the area; and (4) the sustainability and preservation of species, habitats, and the genetic pool.

 Cleobora
Since early last century, eucalypt trees in New Zealand have been under siege by the Tortoise Beetle Paropsis charybdis, an Australian beetle which at both the larval and adult stages has a voracious appetite for eucalypt foliage.
Twenty five years later the Eucalypt Action Group have confirmed that Cleobora is both present and abundant in the mixed Blackwood/ Eucalypt stand at Maori Bay in the Marlborough Sounds.
It was noted in a recent Tasmanian study that in April, Blackwood seedlings bordering a eucalypt plantation carried large numbers of newly emerged Cleobora ladybirds feeding on psyllids prior to overwintering.
