Eucrasia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The physician Galen (130-199 AD) elaborated a model of health and disease as a structure of elements, qualities, humors, organs, and temperaments.
Health was understood in this perspective to be a condition of harmony or balance (eucrasia) among these basic components that make up both nature in general and the individual body.
Disease was interpreted as the disproportion (dyscrasia) of bodily fluids or four humours: phlegm, blood, and yellow and fl bile.

The natives of Eucrasia are addicted to various sensual pleasures and generally submit to Caresco’s rule, for fear that he will castrate them or worse.
On Eucrasia Caresco makes use of “omnium,” a mysterious and unexplained power source, to create scientific prodigies: a machine capable of stripping the years from human bodies and reversing the aging process, a fast underground train system, food pills, omnium-powered diving suits, and so on.
Eventually Caresco dies and Eucrasia is destroyed in a volcanic explosion.

But, indeed, if disproportion of heat belongs to the primary diseases, it cannot but be that a proportionate blending [eucrasia] of the qualities produces the normal activity.
That is to say, it is because the [normal] activities arise from the eucrasia that the primary impairments of these activities necessarily arise the from derangement.
Now, this being so, there is nothing further to prevent us from saying that, in the case of each function, eucrasia is followed by the more, and dyscrasia by the less favourable alternative.
