 Eucryphia lucida - Growing Native Plants
Eucryphia lucida, or Leatherwood as it is commonly called, is a medium-sized tree with a compact crown of glossy green leaves.
There are currently four cultivars of Eucryphia lucida: ‘Pink Cloud', a pale to medium pink flowered variety; ‘Ballerina' a pale pink flowered variety with deep pink stamens; ‘Leatherwood Cream' a variegated leaf variety and ‘Leatherwood Silver', a variety with silver edged leaves.
Eucryphia — from the Greek words ‘eu', meaning well, thoroughly, and kryphios, meaning hidden, cover, referring to the sepals which are joined at the apex of the buds.

This splendid evergreen hybrid between two Chilean species, Eucryphia cordifolia and Eucryphia glutinosa first arose nearly 100 years ago at Nymans Gardens in Sussex, England.
Its name translates ‘well covered’ and reflects the abundant, sweetly fragrant bowls of pearl-white flowers with cheerful yellow stamens.

It is Eucryphia milliganii, Dwarf Leatherwood, which grows in Tasmania and is probably the more hardy of the two Tasmanian species – the other being Eucryphia lucida, Leatherwood.
Probably the most common Eucryphia that we see is Eucryphia x nymansensis.
As the multiplication sign indicates this is a hybrid, between Eucryphia cordifolia and Eucryphia glutinosa.

I have Eucryphia x intermedia that's blooming now, but it'll be a long time before it reaches that size.
If you look to the right of the Eucryphia in the seconed picture, and to the left in the third, you can see large Umbellularia's growing next to the Eucryphia.
As far as cuttings on the Eucryphia, that might be a good idea, but you might be better off pulling some of the hundereds of tiny suckers that have established roots, and try save yourself some time and effort!

I compared the results of both standard pollen prep and that using Schultz on samples from a core extracted from a lake in rainforest in western Tasmania (which includes a number of taxa which produce pollen less than about 8 microns.
I found that in samples in which I did not use Schultz Eucryphia and Leptospermum were highly abundant (in the case of Eucryphia up to 50%).
However, when I Schultzed samples from the same depth both these taxa were severely reduced in representation and in the case of Eucryphia, often absent!
