From what I hear, it is a federal law that after completing two years of a community college in a state, you are automatically supposed to be accepted to ANY university of your choosing in that state.
There are some community college programs that are affiliated with a 4 year school that will accept you automatically without application when you achieve junior status (Penn State has this deal with its satellite 2-year schools) but I have never heard of any guaranteed "in" for NYU.
The Eugene Lang College which is the liberal arts component of this school allows generous cross registration to the drama, music, art arms of the school.
