Supplementary tests on Euro III vehicles at Millbrook show autogas and petrol vehicles on average both emit very low levels of NOx in cold start conditions and almost too few emissions to detect on hot start.
Hydrocarbon emissions from Euro II autogas vehicles are about 10% less than Euro II petrol vehicles; the most recent tests using Euro III vehicles showed autogas and petrol to give higher levels of hydrocarbon emissions than diesel in cold start conditions but this was reversed in the hot start conditions more typical of urban motoring.
In recent tests at Millbrook using Euro III vehicles, the petrol vehicle gave the highest CO2 emissions whilst emissions from the autogas and diesel vehicles were lower and similar in both hot and cold start conditions.
