The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) is a NATO organization, a multilateral forum created to improve relations between NATO and non-NATO countries in Europe.
It was formed on May 29, 1997 as the successor to the North Atlantic Cooperation Council (NACC) and works alongside the Partnership for Peace (PfP), both created post-Cold War in 1991.
There are 46 members, the 26 NATO member countries and 20 partner countries.

The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) reflects the need which was felt among the PfP nations for a new multinational consultative framework which was not limited to members of NATO or the former Warsaw Pact alliance.
The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council maintains the approach whereby partners are able to decide for themselves the level and areas of cooperation with NATO.
One of the stated aims of this new Council is to provide an expanded political dimension for multilateral consultation and cooperation on a wide range of security and defence related issues, for example regional matters, arms control, civil defence and disaster relief.

Cowen): The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council, EAPC, which comprises 46 nations, met at head of state and Government levels on 22 November in Prague, the day after the summit of the 19 NATO members.
The EAPC is a political framework for discussions in the broad Euro-Atlantic area on matters such as the future development of peacekeeping, as well as on non-military matters such as disaster relief in Europe.
Ireland was represented by the Minister of State, Deputy Roche, and was joined by representatives from other EAPC states, which include other European neutral and non-aligned states such as Austria, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland.

The EAPC is the political structure which acts as an important forum for discussions in the broad Euro-Atlantic area on matters such as the future development of peacekeeping as well as on non-military areas of possible co-operation, such as disaster relief in Europe.
The EAPC meeting in Prague is expected to focus on the future direction of PfP and of the EAPC in the twenty-first century.

 NATO Topics: The Euro-Atlantic Partnership
The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) brings together 46 NATO Partner countries for dialogue and consultation on political and security-related issues.
The new forum was set up to match the increasingly sophisticated relationships being developed with Partner countries under the Partnership for Peace programme and in the context of the peacekeeping operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where troops from 14 Partner countries had deployed in 1996 to serve alongside Allied counterparts.
Meetings of the EAPC are held monthly at the level of ambassadors, annually at the level of foreign and defence ministers and chiefs of defence, as well as occasionally at summit level.

At the Peace Implementation Council’s Steering Board at Sintra and at the meeting of the Council in Bonn last December, strong messages were delivered to the political leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina that commitments made at Dayton must be implemented.
With respect to the implementation of Annex 7, I told the delegates of Bosnia and Herzegovina attending the Humanitarian Issues Working Group last December that it is ultimately the responsibility of their political leaders to ensure that refugees and displaced can indeed return to their homes.

The situation in Southeastern Europe was the main topic of the December 3 Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) meeting, which was held in conjunction with the NATO Ministerial Conference in Brussels.
