I think it's important that Beech be sited in locations where their root systems will not be cramped or subject to foot traffic, they don't tolerate those conditions very well.
Beech are long lived trees in general, with proper care this is a lifelong tree for several generations.
According to some texts, it doesn't do well in extreme heat, I haven't seen that problem yet on a number of European Beech, and our summers are regular low to mid 90s with stretches of upper 90s to 100 for 3 to 3 1/2 months.
